Classroom Assistant - The Pearl British Academy - UAEN (Immediate)

Role Overview

Classroom Assistant position at Pearl British Academy (Aldar Education) in Abu Dhabi, commencing immediately. Applicant must be a UAE National.

Role Purpose

To support individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom, enabling full participation in school activities and providing for their social, emotional and physical well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Pupil Support & Well-Being

• Provide support for individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in school activities.
• Support pupils' social, emotional and physical well-being.
• Support pupils with additional support needs, for example emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Help develop pupils' social skills.
• Participate in development of behaviour policy and promote pupils' self-esteem.

Academic Assistance

• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for individual pupils and groups of pupils.
• Help monitor pupil progress.
• Provide academic assistance.
• Give group instruction as prescribed by the teacher and provide individual instruction.
• Demonstrate various instructional activities.
• Monitor work assigned by teacher, checking and correcting pupils' work while in progress.
• Keep pupils on task.
• Praise and reinforce achievements of pupils and report pupil progress to teacher.

Classroom & Administrative Support

• Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
• Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks to support teaching.
• Check attendance.
• Reorganise materials at the end of the day.
• Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.

Supervision & Discipline

• Supervise pupils in classrooms and other locations.
• Discipline misbehaviour in line with whole school policy.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
• Support the aims of the school and comply with the requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation and school policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum secondary school certificate or Bachelor's degree.
• At least two years' experience in a school setting.
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
• English language skills according to the school curriculum.
