Role Overview
CCBβ UAE Head at Citi. This is a full-time, senior management position based in the United Arab Emirates, reporting to the Head of Europe, Middle East & Africa for Commercial Banking with a matrix report to the UAE Chief Compliance Officer.

Role Purpose
Manage and drive growth of the CCB business as a key business unit for Citi. This Managing Director role entails responsibility for developing and executing the business strategy for CCB in UAE with responsibility for the client P&L of the business in order to ensure sustainable and predictable earnings and excellent client experience, all achieved within a sound control environment.
Key Responsibilities
Growth & Strategy
- Drive growth of CCB business in UAE.
- Develop, implement and execute a business strategy with goal to support organic growth targets leading to sustainable and predictable results.
- Grow market share in key segments while identifying opportunities to expand the customer base.
- Develop a deep understanding of the local market and build long-lasting relationships with clients and local authorities.
- Ensure that the right value proposition is developed while leveraging Citi's capabilities and network.
- Establish pricing policies to drive adequate returns at the customer level.
Financial & P&L Management
- Assume responsibility for client P&L of the local CCB business, including revenues, expenses, allocations, adequate returns on capital, and sound operating efficiency.
- Drive a balanced scorecard approach to business performance.
Credit & Risk Management
- Assume responsibility for quality of the credit portfolio and origination in line with Target Market, with prompt problem recognition.
- Act as Senior Sponsoring Officer for large credit clients.
- Establish close partnership with Risk to ensure that the right credit approach, programs and procedures are in place to allow sound growth of the credit portfolio, avoid negative selection and maintain portfolio quality.
- Ensure sound quality of the credit portfolio and full compliance with credit policies.
- Closely manage Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements and maintain a safe and sound control environment with respect to compliance, legal and regulatory factors.
Team & Talent Management
- Manage, recruit and motivate a team, ensuring an aligned organisational model, scorecards and KPIs to monitor business performance.
- Provide talent development, coaching and counselling of staff to ensure stretch targets and fulfilling assignments.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Establish alignment and close partnership with products (Markets, Treasury and Trade Solutions) and coverage (Investment Banking, Capital Markets and Corporate Banking) to ensure comprehensive solution delivery and continuous product development for CCB customers.
- Partner with Operations and Technology to ensure product delivery and excellent service.
- Represent CCB on internal governance committees in UAE.
Qualifications & Experience
- University Degree; preferred qualifications include MBA or equivalent in Business Management or Banking, Chartered Accountant, CFA or CPA.
- Experience in the banking sector, specifically within corporate and/or commercial banking.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a complex business with P&L management experience.
- Business builder capable of creating vision and motivating the team.
- UAE market knowledge and experience preferable.
- Solid understanding of the different banking products.
- Superior knowledge and experience in credit risk management and structuring deals.
- Senior Credit Officer or Senior Credit Officer candidate.
- Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered provided they have the necessary skills and experience.
