Business Systems Manager - Data Platform Engineering - 1 year contract

Role Overview

Business Systems Manager - Data Platform Engineering, a 1-year contract role with Al Tayer Group, supporting and enhancing Retail Business Analytics capabilities to optimize planning, buying, and merchandising functions for Omni-channel retail operations.

Role Purpose

Provide functional and technical expertise to support and continuously improve critical Business Intelligence applications including Redshift, Databricks, generative and agentic AI capabilities, while managing integrations across retail ERP systems and ensuring effective delivery of analytics-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business Intelligence & Analytics Support

• Provide functional and technical support for Business Intelligence technologies, focusing on planning, buying, and merchandising.
• Possess technical proficiency in AWS Redshift and Databricks, SAP, and Business Intelligence capabilities like generative and agentic AI.

Core Retail Application Support

• Ensure effective support to core retail applications (SAP), covering master data management, items, locations, pricing, costing, purchase orders, allocations, transfers, inventory management, replenishment, price management, and markdown management.
• Support Master Data Management including Merchandise hierarchy and other master data.

Requirements & Solution Design

• Lead requirement analysis and solution design for new projects and enhancements, working with business users to complete Business Requirement Documents (BRD).
• Drive requirement analysis and solutioning for new projects and enhancements.
• Work with business users to complete Business Requirement Documents (BRD) for new projects and demand.

Project Management & Delivery

• Collaborate with SI partners, review technical solutions, and guide teams through all project phases, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and effective project delivery.
• Conduct solution walkthrough sessions with SI partners and guide the team across all project phases.
• Review technical solutions, efforts, costs, and timelines provided by SI partners.
• Manage all phases of projects from Design, Build, Test, and Deploy.
• Maintain effective project and stakeholder management throughout delivery lifecycle.

Integration & Customization

• Lead integrations to multiple in-house and external systems.
• Apply functional knowledge of ERP customizations, extensions, and custom integrations with third-party systems.

Problem Solving

• Apply strong problem-solving and analytical skills focused on root cause analysis and preventive fixes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or relevant field.
• 12–15 years of experience in IT.
• At least 5 years of Retail ERP experience is desirable.
• Proven experience in SAP and BI Application support.
• Oracle Retail Functional certification is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

AWS Platform & Cloud

• Hands-on experience designing solutions and integrations (REST) on the AWS cloud platform, including Cognito, API Gateways, Lambda (NodeJS), Elastic Cache, S3, RDS (Postgres, Redshift), DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch, CDK, and CloudFormation stack.

Database & Backend

• Hands-on experience with Oracle PL-SQL, Unix, Oracle Forms, Shell scripting, and Oracle performance tuning.

Retail Systems Integration

• Knowledge of Retail Integration Bus (RIB) for standard integrations between RMS, WMS, and SIM.

Functional Expertise

• Expertise in Retail, supporting planning, buying, and merchandising functions for Omni-channel retail.
