Building Maintenance Technician

Role Overview

Building Maintenance Technician at Burjline Builders. The role manages daily maintenance operations and repairs across commercial or residential property and buildings.

Role Purpose

To maintain building systems, infrastructure, and facilities through preventative maintenance, equipment repair, and corrective action in response to safety issues and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Safety

• Run daily maintenance operations of the property and buildings.
• Inspect property and buildings for life and safety issues and take immediate corrective action.
• Inform the line manager of safety findings and maintenance priorities.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Be a self-starter and work independently in the absence of supervision.

Maintenance & Repairs

• Identify building maintenance needs, prioritize work, and take corrective actions with manager approval.
• Perform a full range of skilled building maintenance for extended periods.
• Repair and maintain a variety of mechanical equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on buildings including skilled carpentry, electrical work, painting, plastering, dry walling, plumbing, heating, limited air conditioning, and basic mechanical repair work.
• Maintain door hardware, keying, exit and emergency lighting.

Electrical Work

• Repair electrical switches, outlets, lighting systems, and fixtures.

Plumbing Work

• Perform advanced-level plumbing work including installation, repair, and replacement of plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, faucets, water heaters, and pipes.
• Clear obstructions from water and sewer lines.

Carpentry Work

• Perform adequate-level carpentry work including repair of stairs, handrails, trim, walls, windows, siding, doors, and other related work.

Reporting & Planning

• Inspect building facilities to identify maintenance needs.
• Prepare preventive maintenance reports.
• Recommend, prioritize, and perform corrective maintenance required.
• Assist contractors for any requirements the company requires.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a commercial or residential setting.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.

• Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
