Role Overview

Automation DevOps Engineer at Mashreq, Injaz-TECH-Architecture and DevOps, UAE.

Role Purpose

Design, implement and maintain the infrastructure and tools necessary for the development and deployment of software solutions. Work closely with development and operations teams to automate processes, streamline the build and release pipelines, and ensure the scalability and reliability of applications.

Key Responsibilities

CI/CD & Automation

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automating the build, test, and deployment processes.
• Design a secure application-release automation process to make security an integral part of the CI/CD pipelines on both on-premises and cloud platforms.
• Implement DevSecOps processes across CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes deployments.
• Deploy working knowledge of deployment automation solutions.

Infrastructure & Operations

• Help debug and fix problems with the infrastructure and applications.
• Set up Systems, Network, Storage, and CDN infrastructure on Azure.
• Manage cluster infrastructure using tools like AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service).
• Troubleshoot production issues through observability platforms and monitoring tools.

Development & Problem-Solving

• Deliver hands-on coding to help the team develop solutions and solve surfacing problems.
• Identify bottlenecks in coding development and deployment processes.
• Identify and remove technical impediments.
• Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and design solutions, challenging the status quo when appropriate.

Team Leadership & Governance

• Collaborate with the rest of the DevOps team to deliver consistent and holistic solutions to the organization.
• Provide the team a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality.
• Lead knowledge growth efforts in platform configuration management and troubleshooting.
• Build bridges between teams and technology solutions for common goals and delivery.
• Adhere to information controls and security frameworks and procedures.

Strategic & Decision-Making

• Provide innovative solutions and recommendations to influence critical decisions.
• Communicate complex technical decisions with strong communication skills and organizational alignment.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Overall 6+ years of experience with IT Infrastructure and Applications.
• 3-4 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and continuous integration.
• Experience with related tools including Azure DevOps, Hudson, Maven, Ant, Git, and Sonar.
• Currently practicing DevOps methodology.
• Experience in Agile Development and DevOps on cross-functional agile teams.
• Experience in setting up Systems, Network, Storage, and CDN infrastructure on Azure.

Skills & Competencies

• Hands-on experience in CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes deployment, and DevSecOps processes.
• Excellent coding and scripting skills.
• Expertise in cloud infrastructure, specifically Azure and AKS.
• Experience implementing high-scale cloud architectures using modern, cloud-based container platforms (PaaS/SaaS).
• Understanding of Splunk or similar application and infrastructure logging tools for troubleshooting.
• Understanding of industry standard monitoring platforms and observability platforms.
• Strong communication skills with ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions.
• Ability to provide innovative solutions and influence critical decisions.
