Role Overview
Associate Director, Leveraged & Sponsor Financing at First Abu Dhabi Bank, based in Abu Dhabi. This role sits within the Global Corporate Finance team and focuses on originating, evaluating and executing Leveraged & Acquisition Finance transactions with CIB clients.
Role Purpose
To originate, structure and execute Leveraged & Acquisition Finance deals with corporate, family group, GRE, investor and financial institution clients. Work closely with relationship managers, GCF colleagues and internal stakeholders to develop strategic client relationships, identify solutions and lending opportunities aligned to the Bank's risk parameters and targets, and differentiate FAB in the market.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Origination & Structuring
- Evaluate, structure and execute new deals alongside coverage and credit teams.
- Conduct proactive deal origination, financial analysis and debt structure proposals to develop solutions for clients.
- Analyse financing requirements and develop points of view in support of senior loan origination team members.
- Manage hands-on financial modelling, transaction documentation and engagement with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Negotiation & Documentation
- Assist in negotiating terms with borrowers and other lenders.
- Drive documentation based on LMA standards for syndicated, leveraged deals.
Portfolio & Reporting
- Assist in managing existing loan portfolio.
- Prepare MIS and reports as required.
- Ensure internal reporting is accurate and timely.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Execution
- Maintain strong internal relations and collaborate with Coverage, Legal, Credit and Operations teams.
- Ensure timely execution of transactions.
- Work in a timely manner, taking ownership of projects once allocated.
Strategic Support & Compliance
- Support the Head of LAF on strategic initiatives including budgeting and business planning.
- Implement departmental policies, systems and procedures to fulfil all relevant procedural and legislative requirements.
- Deliver quality and cost-effective service.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 years of experience in structured corporate lending transactions.
- Strong credit assessment skills including excellent debt and cash flow modelling experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Experience of corporate valuation including DCF, Comparable Companies and LBO methodologies.
- Experience in data analysis and financial modelling.
- First-hand experience documenting loan transactions using LMA standard documentation for syndicated, leveraged deals.
- Good grasp of legal concepts and loan mechanics.
