Role Purpose
To prepare, grind, polish and finish welded surfaces and seams while maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and delivering quality work that meets project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Welding and Surface Preparation
- Prepare welding seams by grinding and smoothing surfaces to ensure proper fit and alignment for welding.
- Evaluate the smoothness and absence of defects on ground and polished surfaces after welding.
- Polish and finish welded surfaces to remove imperfections such as rough edges or burrs and achieve a smooth and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Operations and Quality
- Measure the productivity and speed of grinding and polishing operations after welding.
- Assess the efficiency of material usage to minimize waste.
- Deliver timely completion of welding, grinding and polishing tasks to meet project schedules.
- Receive positive feedback on the quality of welding and polished surfaces.
Equipment Maintenance
- Track the upkeep of welding, grinding and polishing equipment.
- Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of grinding and polishing equipment to ensure optimal performance and long life.
Safety and Compliance
- Monitor compliance with safety protocols during welding, grinding and polishing activities.
- Adhere to safety protocols during all activities.
Team and Flexibility
- Evaluate the ability to work effectively with the welding and fabrication team.
- Work individually without the assistance of a supervisor.
- Accept work in any shift and be willing to work in other departments as required.
