Assistant Manager – Warehouse Operations

Role Overview

Assistant Manager – Warehouse Operations at Al Tayer Group, a leader in luxury retail in the Middle East. This is a 1-year fixed-term contract position.

Al Tayer Group's retail division, Al Tayer Insignia, hosts a portfolio of luxury brands across fashion, jewellery, home and department store categories. The division also operates in lifestyle retail, representing leading brands in Beauty, Home, Fashion and Hospitality sectors. Portfolio brands include Bloomingdale's, Harvey Nichols and Armani.

Role Purpose

Manage the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, overseeing the full cycle of product from receiving and storage through efficient transportation and distribution to customer and store order fulfilment. Provide a high level of customer satisfaction and escalate any operational issues to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Manage warehouse efficiency and product tracking, including route analysis and re-routing recommendations to optimize space and floor operations.
• Optimize and coordinate the full order cycle until fulfilment.
• Implement work processes and flows to ensure appropriate policies and procedures are followed across key logistics activities, minimizing cost and overtime.
• Establish and continuously review department work flows and job responsibilities; develop, recommend and gain approval for improvement proposals.
• Keep track of quality, quantity, operational cost and efficiency.
• Ensure timeliness and integrity of all inventory transactions.
• Manage the disposal of expired and obsolete goods to maintain high quality standards.

Financial Management

• Implement the annual plan and manage the budget for areas of responsibility, monitoring performance against targets and initiating corrective action to ensure operations stay within agreed financial parameters.

Quality and Risk

• Review operational processes from a risk management perspective; identify and qualify new risk areas and escalate concerns to the HSE committee.
• Maintain HSE practices in the working environment to minimize property damage and injury to self and colleagues; proactively remind colleagues to follow defined HSE processes.

Process Improvement

• Develop and implement processes to optimize customer experience.
• Identify warehouse operation improvement opportunities and recommend options to improve.

People Management

• Guide and motivate subordinates to enhance performance and produce quality work.
• Ensure subordinates are continuously developed for higher level roles.
• Ensure new recruits are supported to successfully complete probation.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and documented performance monitoring, coaching and development activities to ensure continual development and productivity.
• Conduct annual and quarterly performance reviews.
• Regularly communicate to the team on operational performance and brief on upcoming events.
• Support management of employee engagement issues and disciplinary matters to ensure staff follow company process and values.
• Create a positive work environment that results in low attrition, sickness and absence reduction to ensure collective and individual targets are met.
• Utilize the company's reward structures and employee recognition schemes to encourage and recognize outstanding performance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain and Logistics.
• 3–5 years of experience in warehousing and distribution.
• Knowledge of retail, perfumes and cosmetics sectors.
• Knowledge of the local market.

Skills & Competencies

• Financial acumen with ability to manage budgets.
• Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
