Role Overview

Assistant Manager, Payments Regulatory Governance & SWIFT at Emirates NBD, supporting the delivery of strategic SWIFT and cross-border payment initiatives across the Emirates NBD Group, including international entities.

Role Purpose

Support the delivery of strategic SWIFT and cross-border payment initiatives across the Emirates NBD Group by interpreting regulatory requirements, preparing business requirements, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and ensuring successful implementation of regulatory and strategic payment programs.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Interpretation & Strategic Planning

  • Interpret regulatory requirements and prepare business requirements for SWIFT and cross-border payment initiatives.
  • Develop and socialize Business Requirement Documents (BRDs).
  • Coordinate stakeholder reviews and approvals.
  • Support functional specification development.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and internal governance requirements.
  • Plan, govern, and implement SWIFT strategic initiatives and cross-border payment programs across the Group.

Subject Matter Expertise & Support

  • Serve as subject matter expert for SWIFT standards, SWIFT applications, Payment Hub functionalities, and cross-border payment processes.
  • Provide operational, governance, and implementation support across business, technology, compliance, risk, and operations functions.
  • Perform impact assessments and support project delivery.
  • Provide full lifecycle support to clients, from initial business interaction to project implementation and beyond.

Operational Governance

  • Own day-to-day operational support of the Payment Hub.
  • Drive continuous enhancements to improve operational efficiency, user experience, system functionality, and process effectiveness.
  • Execute SWIFT, Payment Hub, and cross-border payment initiatives with minimal operational disruption.
  • Manage and reconcile SWIFT invoices.
  • Monitor budgets.
  • Adhere to the Bank's financial governance and approval frameworks.
  • Support governance of SWIFT-related services and commercial arrangements.

Stakeholder Coordination & Standardization

  • Coordinate with local and international stakeholders to standardize payment capabilities across Group entities.
  • Promote reusability of solutions.
  • Optimize technology investments by eliminating duplicate developments.
  • Conduct requirement analysis and review, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Enhancement & Optimization

  • Identify and implement initiatives that enhance payment capabilities, operational efficiency, and client experience.
  • Lead product and process enhancements to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
  • Assist businesses in resolving urgent or critical issues related to cheque clearing and payment processes.

Compliance & Risk

  • Contribute to regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain robust governance and control standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of banking compliance, operational risk, and governance requirements.
  • Support the Bank's strategic objective of enhancing its cross-border payment capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of SWIFT standards, messaging formats, and SWIFT-related applications.
  • Good understanding of cross-border payment infrastructures and market infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of ISO 20022 migration, payment processing workflows, and Payment Hub architecture.
  • Knowledge of banking compliance, operational risk, and governance requirements.
  • SWIFT ISO 20022 Expert certification from a recognized institution (SWIFT).
  • Experience in MIS Reporting, Regulatory Submission, and Operational Risk roles.
  • Additional experience in Internal Controls.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to prepare Business Requirement Documents (BRDs).
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in project management tools.
