Role Overview

Assistant Manager, Cards & Retail Payment Products at QNB, Doha, Qatar. This is a Qatarization position within Retail Banking.

Role Purpose

Support the Assistant Vice President International Cards and Retail Payment Acceptance in maximizing volume and profits by expanding the bank's international market share for cards and payment products. Maintain QNB policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements across countries where the bank operates. Maintain and grow existing products aligned with local market business, scale successful products to international markets, and continuously innovate new and enhanced products and features to meet merchant demand in a professional and proactive manner, working in partnership with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Strategic Performance

  • Assist AVP International Cards and Retail Payment Acceptance in developing and implementing strategies and plans to achieve pre-agreed volume and revenue/profit targets for the Retail Cards and Payments Business.
  • Implement KPIs and best practices for the Assistant Manager role in International Cards and Retail Payment Acceptance.
  • Develop strong international payment industry market knowledge.
  • Develop strong understanding of factors affecting the Bank's financial and non-financial performance.
  • Develop strong marketing and technical product knowledge.
  • Understand internal and external environmental factors including economic, political, social, competitive and regulatory aspects, and integrate these into business planning and operational processes.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to changing international market conditions and react to market dynamics effectively.
  • Develop understanding of POS and ecommerce-based business models.
  • Promote cost consciousness and efficiency, enhance productivity, minimize costs, avoid waste, and optimize benefits for the bank.
  • Act within the limits of powers delegated to the incumbent.

Customer Management

  • Continuously evaluate international market trends and patterns to ensure that products and services offered exceed customer needs and expectations.
  • Ensure that customers across QNB Group benefit from the best available products and features through cross-pollination within the Group.
  • Actively assist in promoting standardization of products and services where relevant and practical.
  • Assist customers with queries on Bank products and seek solutions to their requests.
  • Liaise with country representatives to provide updates and support from the group level as appropriate.
  • Maintain activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with local and international departments/units to achieve improvements in turn-around time.
  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with all related departments and units to achieve the Group's goals and objectives, and assist AVP and Manager International Cards and Retail Payment Acceptance.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to external/internal Auditors, Compliance, Financial Control and Risk Functions when required.

Products, Processes & Regulatory Compliance

  • Proactively engage with local and international market stakeholders to ensure that global standards and best practices are adhered to, including sensitivity analysis models and profitability calculators.
  • Assist the superior and work with international businesses to create, modify or re-invent products and services as required to ensure relevance to market needs.
  • Support licensing requirements from Scheme or local regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and work with branding and website content related tasks/departments for payment acceptance products in the international market.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a university, preferably with a major in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or Information Technology (related field of study).
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience, preferably within a highly rated international bank.
  • Experience in the payments industry is an added advantage.
