Role Overview

Assistant General Counsel - Legal Affairs (Fin & Com) at flydubai, based in Dubai.

Role Purpose

Manage negotiations on various legal and key strategic matters across flydubai's operations, particularly in the finance and commercial portfolio. Oversee primary responsibilities for negotiating and drafting aircraft financing and related arrangements, select commercial contracts, and provide legal advice, risk mitigation, and strategic prioritization to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Negotiation & Documentation

• Negotiate and document medium to high value transactions including financing and related documents for aircraft acquisition or refinancing.
• Negotiate loan and similar financing arrangements.
• Negotiate maintenance and related agreements.
• Negotiate fuel and other commodity agreements.

Commercial Support

• Support the broader commercial team in a variety of contract negotiations.
• Advise on terms, liabilities and risks of proposed transactions.
• Formulate creative and practical legal solutions to meet commercial realities.

Strategic Advice & Risk Management

• Evaluate and propose the company's stance on pertinent legal issues and risks.
• Identify, advise, implement, and develop general and specialist legal strategy together with Senior Management.
• Prioritize matters and collaborate with team members to accommodate commercial requirements.

Stakeholder Management & Relationship Building

• Establish strong relationships with external counsel and internal clients of diverse backgrounds.
• Understand clients' business requirements.

Organizational Development

• Identify organizational needs and initiate and complete projects to address them.
• Facilitate, develop, and conduct legal training seminars for internal clients to raise awareness on legal matters.
• Supervise junior team members and assist in their professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Law or Legal Studies.
• Admitted to practice, preferably in a common law jurisdiction.
• Valid practicing certificate or equivalent qualification certificate.
• 4 to 6 years of experience post-qualification.
• Experience in asset financing, banking or commercial contracts.
• Aviation experience, including aviation finance, preferred.
• In-house legal experience beneficial but not essential.
• GCC experience beneficial but not essential.

Additional Information
