Role Overview
Assistant Finance Manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island, Hilton.
Role Purpose
Support the Finance Director in executing financial strategy, managing financial operations, and developing a high-performing finance team. Serve as a trusted advisor to hotel leadership and ownership, ensuring robust financial controls, compliance, and profitability while enabling the EMEA finance management value proposition.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Performance
- Support financial strategy execution by directing financial operations to ensure alignment with the hotel's strategic goals, optimizing profitability and efficiency.
- Assist in reviewing financial performance, reconciling accounts, and preparing recommendations for hotel leadership and ownership.
- Monitor financial performance and contribute to the achievement of the hotel's financial objectives.
- Support all activities of the Finance Director by ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee Accounts Receivable, Credit, and Night Audit functions, ensuring adherence to internal controls and financial policies.
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy in cash receipt coding.
- Coordinate and review month-end closing activities and monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Uniform System of Accounts, and Hilton policies and procedures.
- Review and authorize ledger reconciliations, tax filings, and payroll, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
- Support internal audits for transparency and compliance.
Compliance & Operational Excellence
- Maintain the smooth operation of all hotel finance activities while ensuring full compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Ensure a robust control and compliance environment.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with hotel finance team members, Hotel Management, Commercial, IT, Procurement, Operations, Shared Service Centers (where applicable), Owners, Asset Managers, and Regional Operations Finance teams to support business objectives and strengthen cross-functional relationships.
- Communicate financial information effectively to all levels of management, hotel leadership, ownership groups, and external stakeholders.
- Partner within the hotel to maximize profit for shareholders and owners.
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, and mentor team members to build, retain, and engage a high-performing finance team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
- Support the recruitment, development, coaching, and engagement of finance team members.
- Participate in relevant finance development programs to build a best-in-class finance function.
- Recognize achievements to foster strong problem-solving capabilities and support the achievement of team objectives.
Finance Leadership Continuity
- Assist the Finance Director in leading the Finance Department.
- Assume departmental leadership responsibilities in the Finance Director's absence to ensure continuity of operations.
Strategic Initiatives
- Execute EMEA Operations Finance innovations and projects to deliver an industry-leading efficient finance organization.
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to analyze large volumes of complex financial information from multiple sources and prepare accurate reports, forecasts, budgets, and financial projections.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve financial and operational issues, while proactively identifying and preventing potential problems.
- Ability to manage, coach, and develop team members, fostering strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize responsibilities, implement solutions, and drive continuous improvement across finance operations.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to prepare and deliver presentations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
