Role Overview

Rotor Balancer at Baker Hughes, Qatar Service Center. The internal title for this role is ARMO Tech - Assem II.

Role Purpose

You will partner with the cell leader at the Qatar Service Center to deliver balancing, machining, and mechanical work on gas turbine rotors and components while ensuring all Baker Hughes standards and organizational needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Machine Operation

• Operate dynamic balance machines (Horizontal and Vertical) to locate points of imbalance on parts such as rotors, compressor discs, shafts, and impeller wheels.
• Balance parts by removing excess metal using hand tools and power tools, or by adding weights.
• Operate Turning, Drilling, Milling, Grinders, and boring equipment to required specifications.
• Perform assembly and disassembly of rotors (Gas Turbine and Compressor).

Quality & Inspection

• Perform visual dye penetrant inspection and dimensional inspections of rotors and gas turbine related components.
• Conduct run out inspections (Mechanical and Electrical) and visual inspections.

Maintenance & Facility Management

• Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of machines, balancing facility, and all auxiliaries.
• Maintain a clean work area and contribute to overall housekeeping efforts.
• Ensure the work area is in compliance with HSE requirements.

Documentation & Systems

• Complete required documentation with accurate information including routers, job cards, labor reporting, checklists, and inspection reports.
• Update digital shop systems related to assigned work including Digital Work Order, Time Vouchering, and Operation completion.

Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with Baker Hughes Policies and Procedures.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Engineering from an accredited Institute or college, or High School equivalent.
• Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in balancing, machining, and mechanical balancing related activities on gas turbine rotors and components.
• Experience in dynamic balancing processes and machine operation (Horizontal and Vertical) using belt or coupling drive.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Rotor disassembly and assembly knowledge.
