ANCHOR FOREMAN

Role Overview

Anchor Foreman at NMDC Group. This role operates on offshore construction barges, managing anchor systems and mooring operations throughout barge deployment and repositioning.

Role Purpose

Lead anchor handling operations and barge positioning on offshore work locations, ensuring safe and efficient mooring setup, maintenance, and repositioning while maintaining full compliance with company and HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities

Barge Setup and Mobilization

• Assist the Barge Foreman in setting up the barge on work locations.
• Prepare anchors, pennant wires and different types of buoys during barge mobilization.

Mooring System Inspection and Maintenance

• Check the condition of the barge mooring system, including anchor winches and anchor wires, and report findings to the Barge Foreman.
• Check the condition of anchors, buoys and pennant wires on a frequent basis.
• Verify the positioning of anchors once the barge is operational.

Anchor Positioning and Planning

• Plot anchor positions as depicted in the approved anchor pattern.
• Plan and plot positions with the concurrence of senior colleagues in the absence of an approved anchor pattern.

Barge Positioning and Operations

• Monitor the position of a barge during repositioning of anchors onto the seabed with Anchor Handling Tugs (AHTS).
• Ensure that the barge is well positioned through all phases of the lay operation.
• Be in-charge of the tower's operation, running anchors and movement of the barge on its anchors.

Documentation and Reporting

• Record and maintain relevant documentation related to anchor handling in accordance with vessel procedures.
• Report cases of accidents, incidents and near-misses to senior colleagues for investigation and further action.

Deck Support

• Provide necessary assistance to the Barge Foreman with deck activities when anchor related duties are minimal.

Compliance and Standards

• Maintain compliance in accordance with section and Company policies, procedures, Policy of Integrity, Code of Conduct and HSE standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 8 years' experience in offshore.
• Relevant experience in offshore construction is essential.
• Knowledgeable of all standard offshore safety training requirements.

Skills & Competencies

• Good written and spoken English communication skills.
• Knowledgeable of HSEMS, environmental awareness, hazardous material awareness and handling of waste.
• Experience of using hand and power tools.
• Ability to work in a team or independently.
• Keen eye for detail.
