3RD W/K ENGINEER

Role Overview

3rd Engineer at NMDC Group, posted for a dredging vessel operation.

Role Purpose

Support the Chief and 2nd Engineers in maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated systems, ensuring reliable propulsion and auxiliary power for smooth dredging operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

• Assist in the daily operations and maintenance of the vessel's engines and auxiliary systems.
• Monitor and record engine performance, fuel consumption, and other vital parameters.
• Conduct regular inspections and troubleshoot any mechanical issues that arise.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and filter replacements.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant safety regulations and best practices.

Resource Management

• Oversee the proper storage and handling of fuel and lubricants.

Performance Optimization

• Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to optimize engine performance and efficiency.

Documentation

• Maintain accurate records and documentation as per company standards.

Team Leadership

• Assist in the training and supervision of junior engineering staff.

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid Certificate of Competency (COC) for 3rd Engineer or higher.
• Extensive experience working on marine engines, preferably on dredgers.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
