Role Overview
Second Watch/Keep Engineer for Dredger with NMDC Group. This position is based onboard a dredging vessel and reports to the Chief Engineer.

Role Purpose
Assist the Chief Engineer in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all engineering machinery onboard the dredger. Take responsibility for engine-room watchkeeping, machinery maintenance, dredging equipment monitoring and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Engine-Room Operations
- Take responsibility for engine-room watchkeeping and ensure continuous monitoring of main engines, generators and auxiliary systems.
- Operate and maintain main propulsion, auxiliary engines, pumps, compressors, boilers and associated machinery.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of fuel, lubrication, cooling, bilge, ballast, fire-fighting and hydraulic systems.
- Monitor machinery parameters, identify abnormalities and take timely corrective action to prevent breakdowns and downtime.
Dredging Equipment
- Monitor and maintain dredging-related equipment, including dredge pumps, cutter drive, hydraulic systems, winches, spud and ladder machinery as applicable.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out planned maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting and repairs in accordance with the vessel's PMS.
- Assist with major machinery overhauls, dry-docking, repairs, surveys and commissioning activities.
- Maintain adequate stocks of critical spares, tools and engineering consumables and report requirements to the Chief Engineer.
Records & Documentation
- Maintain accurate engine-room logs, maintenance records, checklists and defect reports.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise and guide junior engineering crew during maintenance and operational activities.
- Coordinate with the Dredge Master, Chief Engineer and deck team to ensure uninterrupted dredging operations.
- Assist the Chief Engineer in maintaining high machinery reliability, fuel efficiency, safety standards and minimum vessel downtime.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, Class, Flag and company HSE requirements.
- Participate in emergency drills and respond effectively to machinery breakdowns and other onboard emergencies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in marine or mechanical engineering.
- Five to ten years' experience in the role, preferably onboard dredgers.
