Role Overview
Zoological Associate at Miral Destinations, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. This position supports the safe and efficient operation of zoological facilities through animal husbandry, guest interaction, enrichment, and research activities.

Role Purpose
To ensure smooth and efficient operations of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi facilities in the Zoological Department by safely fulfilling duties in animal and guest interactions, husbandry, enrichment, general public presentations, and research.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Husbandry & Care
- Perform daily husbandry tasks including administration of vitamins and medication as directed.
- Prepare food and provide proper nutrition and constant care of animals.
- Maintain safe, appropriate, and sanitary living conditions for all animal habitats.
- Make daily observations of animals and report any abnormalities to the leadership team.
- Maintain all animal records, equipment, area responsibilities, and communication requirements on a daily basis.
Behavior & Training
- Learn behavior modification techniques under the supervision of more experienced colleagues, including training behaviors to completion, proactively maintaining conditioned behavior, and forming relationships with assigned animals.
Safety & Monitoring
- Ensure guests', personal, and animals' safety through constant monitoring of behavioral precursors of potentially harmful behavior by both animals and people.
- Consistently practice safe work habits, including use of personal protective equipment, proper lifting techniques, and reporting of unsafe situations.
Guest Services & Education
- Provide proactive guest services through guest interactions, animal presentations and programs in the assigned area, and responding to guest inquiries.
- Perform assigned roles in education and general public programs and guest interaction programs.
Professional Conduct & Development
- Function as an Ambassador by displaying consideration, tolerance, cooperation, open communication, and reliability; maintain consistent attitude, motivation, and ability to accept feedback.
- Ensure all policies, guidelines, manuals, and SOPs are followed at all times.
- Participate in required trainings and maintain professional development and competencies.
- Perform other duties as directed by leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year of relatable animal experience in a professional setting.
- Good communication skills in English, verbal and written.
- Excellent swimming and diving skills (not required for Aviculture).
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Basic computer knowledge including MS Office and animal recording systems.
Dynamic Habitat/Aquarium
- Basic understanding of fish, reptile, amphibian, and invertebrate husbandry, nutrition, and natural history.
Aviculture
- Basic understanding of avian husbandry and incubation principles and techniques.
Marine Mammal
- Basic understanding of marine mammal husbandry and training principles and techniques.
Zoo Support & Rescue
- Basic understanding of marine mammal, avian, and reptilian husbandry, rescue, and rehabilitation techniques.
Desirable
- College background in Psychology, Zoology, or Biology.
- Open Water SCUBA certification (not required for Aviculture).
- CPR/AED certification.
