Workshop Mechanic (Turbomachinery)

Role Overview

Workshop Mechanic (Turbomachinery) at Elliott Group. This role focuses on the repair, maintenance, and overhaul of industrial rotating equipment including compressors, turbines, and related machinery.

Role Purpose

To recommend and implement repairs for all types of industrial and rotating equipment, including compressors, turbines, and other equipment. Plan and oversee repairs with limited supervision, document work accurately, and help train other employees in department functions and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Repair & Overhaul

• Alter and overhaul most rotors, turbines, disc and blade holders, shafts, sleeves, gears, couplings, and all other forms of equipment needed to complete jobs.
• Document, erect, alter, install, align, repair, replace, disassemble, and reassemble rotating equipment using proper tooling and processes.
• Move and inspect rotating equipment to meet customer needs in a safe and timely manner.
• Set up all equipment needed to complete jobs.

Measurement & Inspection

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and accuracy in using various measuring devices: micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
• Accurately measure and record all critical clearances and dimensions on turbines, compressors, and any other equipment necessary.
• Pass the annual dimensional inspection test.

Documentation & Communication

• Read and comprehend drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions.
• Understand and process documentation associated with turbomachinery such as inspection reports, photo logs, and hold tags.
• Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Use appropriate equipment, tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures, specifications, and documentation to perform the primary function.

Lifting, Rigging & Equipment Operations

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of lifting, rigging, crane, and forklift operations.

Safety, Quality & Team Leadership

• Promote safety and quality at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Work in a team environment.
• Work with little limited supervision.
• Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times when working with internal and external customers.
• Help train other hourly employees in repair processes and procedures.
• Accept ownership over work performance and stay abreast of job knowledge and new skill development.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• 5–8 years of experience with rotating turbomachinery.
• Advanced rigging capabilities.
• Advanced measuring capabilities.
• Experience with turbines, compressors, and other rotating equipment.
