Role Overview

Windows Administrator for Qatar with VAM Systems, a Business Consulting, IT Technology Solutions and Services company with operations in UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, USA, Australia, Singapore, and India. The selected candidate will be deputed to one of the leading banks in Qatar.

Role Purpose

Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows server infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of critical systems including Exchange, Active Directory, and Blackberry platforms. Provide proactive support and technical expertise across the banking organization's IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

Server Administration & Monitoring

• Perform day-to-day administration of Microsoft Windows servers.
• Monitor critical servers including Exchange, Blackberry, Domain Controllers, and MOSS to verify proper functionality.
• Check disk usage and critical alerts on monitored systems.
• Conduct periodic maintenance of servers including restarts and upgrades.
• Install Windows on physical servers as needed.

Security & Patch Management

• Periodically update Windows patches according to schedule.
• Harden Windows servers as per security schedule.
• Implement Disaster Recovery solutions using Double Take for physical servers.
• Test disaster recovery plans to meet objectives.

Exchange & Blackberry Configuration

• Configure Exchange Mailboxes including quota adjustments and mailbox rights assignments.
• Configure Blackberry devices for senior management.
• Troubleshoot Blackberry devices.

Support & Collaboration

• Assist the application team with infrastructure-related issues.
• Provide support to Helpdesk and staff on server and application-related matters.
• Proactively take ownership of technical issues and resolve to closure.
• Be actively part of the team and provide assistance to team members as required.

Projects & Planning

• Involve in project-related activities from the Microsoft Infrastructure side.
• Ensure projects are closed and target dates are met.
• Provide improvement plans for Microsoft technologies aligned with organizational objectives.
• Provide and review technical solutions and designs for new and existing projects and infrastructure.

Knowledge & Development

• Maintain sound technical knowledge on Windows, Active Directory, Exchange, ISA, TMG, MOSS, Blackberry, WSUS, SMS, and SCCM.
• Update technical knowledge as per technology growth.

Availability

• Available on call 24/7/365, which may include presence in office at late night hours or out of office hours.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 5–10 years' experience with solid hands-on Microsoft technologies.
• Experience in Systems Centre Orchestrator.
• Excellent System Center skills (primary) with other technologies such as Active Directory and Exchange.

Skills & Competencies

• Windows Server OS 2003/2008 R2/2012.
• ISA 2006/TMG.
• WSUS.
• SCCM.
• Blackberry.
• Windows Clustering and Windows Load Balancing on Windows 2003/2008.
• PowerShell.
