Role Overview
Welding Supervisor at NMDC Group. The role oversees all welding activities on board vessels and job sites in offshore environments, with full responsibility for welding personnel, equipment, consumables, and quality assurance.
Role Purpose
Lead all welding operations and personnel to deliver pipeline construction and repair work that meets client specifications, welding standards, and company HSE requirements. Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of welding activities from pre-mobilization planning through completion.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Mobilization
- Identify job requirements for personnel, equipment, and welding consumables prior to offshore mobilization.
Personnel & Team Management
- Select welders for each job and monitor their performance.
- Maintain full responsibility over Welding Foremen, pipe facing machine operators, spacers, pipeline welders, and helpers assigned to the project.
- Issue safety gears to welders as required for the job and control the supply of these gears.
- Conduct toolbox meetings with welding crew and promote safety awareness among them.
Quality & Compliance
- Implement applicable welding and QA/QC procedures.
- Interpret radiography films and remain conversant with client specifications and welding standards.
- Ensure compliance in accordance with section and company policies, procedures, Policy of Integrity, Code of Conduct, and HSE standards.
Operations & Problem-Solving
- Oversee all welding activities on board the vessel and job site.
- Troubleshoot welding problems and maintain progress.
- Monitor consumption of welding electrodes and related materials; report shortfalls and request replenishment ahead of time to warehouse and field engineer.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with welding inspectors and third-party NDT personnel.
- Coordinate with client, third party, and inspection teams.
- Report to the field engineer and barge superintendent.
Qualifications & Experience
- Secondary School Certificate with discipline-specific technical qualification, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas Industry.
Skills & Competencies
- Solid knowledge of pipeline welding using SMAW or FCAW processes and automatic welding using GMAW (pulsed) process in 5G downhill position, air-arc gouging, and repair welding.
- Sound technical knowledge in welding processes including SMAW, FCAW (inner shield and outer shield), STT, and welding of various materials such as carbon steel and CRA clad steel.
- Working knowledge of pipeline welding codes: API 1104, DNV OS-F 101, and BS 4515.
- Ability to read and understand welding procedure specification and inspection plan documents.
- Capable of interpreting radiography films.
- Good standard of written and spoken English.
- Good report writing skills.
- Computer literacy.

- All offshore safety training requirements must be met.
