Role Purpose

Monitor and manage all welding quality control activities across project phases—from design and procurement through construction and final handover—ensuring compliance with project quality requirements, regulatory standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Documentation & Compliance

• Assist in preparation of quality documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and construction document reviews for compliance with project welding quality requirements.
• Prepare, file, maintain and generate test, inspection and quality records related to welding activities in a timely manner.
• Where required, assist in preparation of final documents for certification.

Monitoring & Oversight

• Monitor all phases and processes required for effective completion of welding work, including design, procurement, construction and final handover.
• Monitor implementation of Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans related to welding activities.
• Monitor the close-out of punch lists for incomplete welding activities.
• Monitor all measurement and testing instruments used for welding to ensure they are functional and calibrated.

Inspection, Testing & Approval

• Manage inspection and testing of welding activities in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Witness, review and approve welder qualifications, WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and PQR (Procedure Qualification Record) qualifications.
• Attend and witness all client verification of work on site, including inspections and tests related to welding activities.
• Coordinate close-out of outstanding issues related to welding activities.

Management & Supervision

• Manage the work of QC Inspectors under your authority.
• Liaise and coordinate with third-party testing and inspection companies as required for welding activities.
• Assist construction personnel to identify and resolve problems and actual or potential non-conformances related to welding activities.

Analysis & Reporting

• Conduct statistical analysis and evaluation of test data related to welding activities.
• Advise the QC Manager of non-conformance occurrences.
• Raise Non-conformance Reports for non-compliant work and monitor closeout and effectiveness of corrections and corrective actions.

Audits & Compliance

• Where required, assist the QC Manager in undertaking periodic audits, including those of sub-contractors and suppliers, with focus on technical compliance in welding.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Metallurgy Engineering with Master's Degree in Welding.
• At least 15 years of experience in welding-related activities within Oil & Gas project environment.
• ADNOC experience is required.
• Professional certification in welding engineering (IWE or CWE).
• ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MT and PT.
• Certified ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor; Lead Auditor is preferred.
• Certified 3.1 CSWIP required; 3.2 is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledgeable in Welding Process and Welding Procedure Qualification in line with ASME SEC IX, AWS D1.1, API 1104, ISO 13847, SHELL DEP and ADNOC specifications.
• Familiar with welding defect identification, root causes and control measures to prevent occurrence.
• Hands-on welding training capability for implementation contractor and vendor welding teams.
• Well versed in monitoring of welding repair data and welder performance.
• Conversant with resolution of site welding issues, including selection of welding consumables based on various material groupings.
• Ability to optimize welding procedure qualification based on material standard and production thickness.
• Good communication skills.
• Able to work both independently, exercising professional judgment and coordination skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
