Role Overview

Welder with NMDC Group, joining a Self-Propelled Cutter Suction Dredger crew.

Role Purpose

Perform welding, repair, maintenance, and fabrication tasks on dredger components and structures while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in compliance with HSE regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Fabrication

• Perform welding tasks on various components and structures of the dredger.
• Repair and maintain equipment as required.
• Fabricate new parts as needed.
• Read and interpret technical drawings.
• Prepare lists of items required for jobs entrusted.
• Submit reports on work completed.

Quality & Safety

• Work according to defined policies and procedures of the Technical Services Department.
• Comply with and work according to HSE requirements.
• Use any equipment, protective devices, or clothing required by the employer.
• Report any missing or defective equipment or protective devices that may be dangerous.
• Report any known workplace hazard or violation of regulations to the employer or supervisor.
• Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the employer or regulations.

Communication & Coordination

• Work closely with the engineering team to ensure highest standards of quality and safety.
• Report to Charge Hand or Supervisor on work done, performance, issues, and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Provide Charge Hand or Supervisor with information regarding technical aspects and spare parts that need to be ordered.
• Work with minimum supervision.

Qualifications & Experience

• Technical School Certificate or equivalent professional qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
• Welding competency certificate.
• Minimum three years' experience in a similar role and industry.
• STCW Basic Training.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of fabrication works (structural and pipe).
• Ability to read technical drawings.
• Technical expertise and independent work capability.
