Welder (BCT)

Role Overview

Welder (BCT) with ADNOC. The role performs electric, gas, and TIG welding tasks for maintenance, fabrication, and repair work on static equipment.

Role Purpose

Perform a wide variety of welding, cutting, and brazing work to maintenance, fabricate, and repair static equipment including structures, tanks, furnaces, boilers, vessels, and pipelines in compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Welding Operations

• Carry out welding, cutting, and brazing work as per technical specifications and safety standards and regulations.
• Perform hot work as per permit-to-work requirements in compliance with correct use of PPE for self and co-workers.
• Perform shop floor and field welding in a safe and effective manner.
• Perform routine maintenance on welding and cutting tools and equipment and report any defects to the supervisor.
• Carry out welding work required in the maintenance and repair of structures, tanks, furnaces, boilers, steel stacks, heat exchangers, air coolers, and vessels.
• Perform joint preparation for welding on minor fabrication jobs.
• Assist fabricator to prepare weld map and welding summary sheet during execution of fabrication activities.
• Carry out highly skilled welding of all sorts of steel and alloy, non-ferrous, pipelines, and structures for use in the plant utilizing different welding procedures including SMAW and TIG welds.
• Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears, and other metal straightening and bending machines.
• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications to obtain necessary equipment, tools, and materials.
• Participate in assigned plant shutdown activities and ensure timely completion of job activities.
• Carry out visual inspection and exercise vigilance to identify any developing problems in assigned areas and report problems to the supervisor.
• Assist in performing welding tests as required by the Inspection section.

Training

• Provide on-the-job training to meet Competency Based Training programs for UAE Nationalization.

Tools & Equipment Management

• Maintain all tools, safety gear, and equipment provided by the company safely and in working condition.
• Arrange for repair or replacement of any tools and safety gear that may not be in good working condition.

Time Management

• Carry out all maintenance jobs in line with assigned time standards.
• Inform the Maintenance Supervisor if additional resources are required to carry out the job within the assigned time frame.

Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to the identification of areas and opportunities for continuous improvement in operating procedures, modification of functional processes, machinery, or equipment.

Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability

• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
• Participate in Emergency Response duties as a team member.

Housekeeping

• Maintain the work environment clean and tidy before, during, and after executing the job in line with established standards of hygiene and housekeeping.

Reporting & Documentation

• Collect technical data from the field as required and provide inputs to prepare section progress reports for Company Management.
• Provide input for the preparation of method statements and initiate near miss reports.

Compliance & Procedures

• Implement and comply with all relevant functional policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to accomplish operational objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Secondary School Certificate with a vocational trade certificate in welding.
• 4 years of experience in welding and repairing of static equipment within a large industrial plant, preferably in the oil and gas industry.

Skills & Competencies

• Electric, gas, and TIG welding.
• SMAW and TIG weld procedures.
• Cutting and brazing techniques.
• Blueprint and welding process specification interpretation.
• Operation of metal shaping machines including brakes and shears.
• Visual inspection and quality assessment.
• Hot work and permit-to-work compliance.
• PPE knowledge and application.

• Work Environment: A/C environment; could be exposed to prevailing weather conditions including heat, humidity, and dust during occasional site visits.
