Wash Attendant (Laundry Attendant)

Role Overview

Wash Attendant (Laundry Attendant) at Marriott International.

Role Purpose

Operate laundry equipment and machinery to process, inspect, and prepare clean linens and garments for hotel use. Maintain accurate records and ensure all items meet quality and cleanliness standards before distribution.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Operation

• Operate and monitor washing, dry cleaning, and drying machinery.
• Add chemicals to washing and cleaning processes as required.
• Set dryers to designated times and temperatures based on fabric types in each load.
• Remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry cleaning filters, and drain traps after each load.

Quality Control & Inspection

• Identify stained or damaged items and determine status for repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard.
• Inspect cleanliness of articles removed from washers, dryers, or dry-cleaning machines.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines to identify defects.
• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.

Processing & Finishing

• Place inspected articles in clean linen carts.
• Fold cleaned articles into designated sizes by hand or using a folding machine.
• Maintain accurate records of items laundered.

Safety, Compliance & Team Support

• Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
• Complete safety training and certifications.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Protect company assets.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
• Support team to reach common goals.
• Listen and respond appropriately to concerns of other employees.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost-savings.

Physical Requirements

• Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
• Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 25 pounds or less without assistance.
• Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces.
• Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces as well as up and down stairs and service ramps.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.

Qualifications & Experience

• No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• No related work experience required.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No license or certification required.
