Role Overview
Waitress position at InterContinental Riyadh, operated by IHG Hotels & Resorts.
Role Purpose
Deliver professional food and beverage service across breakfast, lunch, dinner and buffet operations while maintaining IHG service standards, ensuring guest satisfaction, and supporting revenue targets through attentive service and upselling.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
- Provide professional service during breakfast, lunch, dinner, buffet and à la carte operations.
- Welcome guests warmly and assist with seating when required.
- Present menus and explain dishes, beverages, promotions and daily specials.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter them correctly into the POS system.
- Serve food and beverages according to IHG service standards and sequence of service.
- Check guest satisfaction throughout the meal and respond promptly to guest requests.
- Ensure accurate billing and payment procedures.
Guest Engagement
- Maintain menu, beverage, allergen and dietary requirement knowledge.
- Actively upsell food, beverages and promotions to support revenue and average check targets.
- Recognize VIPs, returning guests and special occasions.
- Coordinate with Culinary regarding orders, dietary requirements and special guest requests.
Operations & Maintenance
- Prepare assigned tables, service stations and restaurant areas before each service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tables, service stations and restaurant areas.
- Maintain restaurant, buffet, tables and service station cleanliness throughout the shift.
- Complete assigned operational and hygiene checklists.
- Keep the restaurant inspection ready for internal audits, local authority and external inspections.
Safety & Compliance
- Immediately report guest complaints to the Head Waiter or Supervisor and support service recovery.
- Report operational, maintenance or safety issues immediately.
- Report maintenance, hygiene and safety concerns immediately.
- Follow HACCP, hotel food safety standards and Saudi Arabian regulations.
- Follow allergen, food temperature and hygiene procedures.
- Maintain required personal hygiene, grooming and uniform standards at all times.
Teamwork & Training
- Work closely with the Head Waiter, Supervisor, Culinary and other colleagues to ensure smooth service.
- Support colleagues during busy periods and maintain a positive team environment.
- Attend and actively participate in daily briefings, departmental meetings and scheduled training sessions.
- Participate in menu tastings and product knowledge sessions.
- Continuously develop knowledge of IHG service standards, menu, beverages, allergens, upselling and guest engagement.
- Follow instructions and assigned duties from the Head Waiter, Supervisor and Restaurant Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in luxury hotels, reputable restaurants, buffet or à la carte service is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of food, beverages, POS and food safety.
- Previous IHG, luxury hotel or GCC experience is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong guest service and communication skills.
- Good English communication skills; Arabic is an advantage.
