Role Overview

Emrb seeks a skilled Video Editor to support its news operation by editing high-quality, accurate, and timely video content for broadcast, digital platforms, and social media. The role is based at Emrb.

Role Purpose

The Video Editor exists to deliver polished, on-brand video content under tight deadlines in a fast-paced news environment. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, understands editorial standards, and maintains quality and accuracy without compromise.

Key Responsibilities

Content Editing

• Edit breaking news, explainers, interviews, packages, and long-form features
• Add graphics, lower thirds, captions, sound design, and basic colour correction when needed
• Ensure visual storytelling aligns with editorial tone, accuracy, and brand guidelines

Content Repurposing & Adaptation

• Repurpose content from other or sister publications using existing presets and agreed style guidelines
• Adapt content to different platforms as needed

Collaboration & Deadline Management

• Work closely with producers, journalists, and social teams to meet editorial deadlines
• Handle last-minute changes quickly during live or breaking news situations
• Maintain flexibility with timing based on newsroom need

Operations & File Management

• Maintain proper file management, archiving, and version control

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3–7 years of experience in media or video production
• Worked on creating specific content across social channels with understanding of different audiences and channel roles
• Specific vertical content creation experience
• Fluency in Arabic and English reading and writing

Skills & Competencies

• Expert editing proficiency in Adobe Premiere
• Intermediate editing proficiency in AVID
• Intermediate design skills in Photoshop and Illustrator
• An eye for virality and ability to identify marketable material
• Strong time management skills
• Tech savviness and hunger to learn additional tools to expand knowledge
• Experience with AI tools and currency with using AI to create content (highly preferred)
