Role Overview
Vice President – Credit Management at Mashreq, based in the UAE. This position is open to UAE Nationals only.
Role Purpose
Ensure and maintain a sound loan portfolio to minimize loan losses and maximize return on assets and shareholder equity. Recommend sound credit facilities following thorough evaluation of borrower creditworthiness and debt payment capacity. Develop and spread a credit culture within the branch through training, counselling, and advisory services.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
- Maintain quality of loan portfolio as measured by percentage of classified outstandings and loan loss provisions.
- Manage volume of assigned portfolio.
- Minimize migration across risk grades.
- Detect early warning signals to ensure timely corrective action.
- Maintain targeted turnaround time.
Credit Review & Governance
- Review credit policies and procedures on a periodic basis and recommend implementation of changes where appropriate.
- Process volume of credit proposals according to quality standards.
- Minimize percentage of proposals returned or rejected by Head Office.
- Recommend action plans for overcoming observed weaknesses.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Assist Branch Managers and Team Leaders to structure credit lines that meet client business needs within acceptable risk criteria.
- Accompany Relationship Managers and Team Leaders on client calls where necessary to maintain awareness of market and business conditions.
Training & Development
- Develop and spread credit culture within the branch through training, counselling, and advisory services.
Qualifications & Experience
- University Graduate.
- MBA or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 10 to 15 years lending experience, of which 4 to 6 years at managerial level.
- High degree of lending skills including credit analysis, analytical capability, and judgment across various industries and lines of business: Trade, Contracting, and Industry.
