Role Overview
Vice President - Civil Design at Aldar Properties. Lead and manage the Civil Design team, ensuring all projects are designed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability in line with Aldar development's standards, value proposition, and regulatory requirements.
Role Purpose
Lead and manage the Civil Design team to deliver civil engineering solutions for infrastructure projects. Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards while maintaining alignment with company standards, client requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Design Oversight & Delivery
- Oversee design and delivery of civil engineering solutions for a variety of infrastructure projects.
- Oversee the planning, design, and coordination of civil elements, including roadways, utilities, drainage systems, grading, and other infrastructure components.
- Review and approve civil design calculations, drawings, and models, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and alignment with client requirements.
Standards & Quality Assurance
- Develop and implement civil design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
- Ensure adherence to local building codes, regulations, and sustainability standards in the civil design process.
- Monitor the progress of civil design work, identifying and addressing any issues or conflicts that may arise during the design phase.
Team & Consultant Management
- Manage all civil engineering consultants on a day-to-day basis to ensure that designs and technical drawings will be carried out appropriately and aligned with the approved designs.
- Manage and lead multidisciplinary teams in a design and project delivery environment.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the integration of civil designs with other building systems.
- Coordinate with MEP and architecture design to carry out civil design modifications for interfaces of building structures as required.
- Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Project Management
- Manage project documentation and reporting, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Manage budget, schedule, and scope across projects.
Continuous Improvement
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions, support construction activities, and resolve any technical issues that may arise during implementation.
- Identify possible value engineering ideas to cut costs and time and simplify delivery, in accordance with project teams.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to continuously improve design processes and team performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Deep exposure to GCC region and adjacent markets preferred.
- Demonstrated track record in Civil or Structural design for real estate industry.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Excellent understanding of building codes, safety standards, and local regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and efficiency in design execution.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong project management skills, with experience in budget, schedule, and scope management.
