Role Overview
Vehicle Tester at Al Tayer Group in Dubai, UAE. The role exists to inspect and certify the quality and road worthiness of repaired vehicles before delivery to customers.
Role Purpose
Conduct comprehensive quality checks and road worthiness testing of vehicles following repair to ensure they meet manufacturer standards and are safe for customer delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Inspection
- Verify all complaints listed in the repair order are resolved to manufacturer standard.
- Report incomplete repairs to the Technician or Team Leader and withhold sign-off until rectified.
- Conduct visual inspection of vehicles on the ramp to assess condition.
- Perform road testing to confirm vehicle road worthiness.
- Certify vehicles are fit for customer delivery following successful inspection and testing.
Vehicle Management & Parts Handling
- Park vehicles in the designated location following road test and inspection.
- Ensure removed or replaced old parts are stored securely in the vehicle boot without staining the interior.
- Ensure used batteries are not stored inside the vehicle.
- Return unused parts or store them properly according to company procedure.
- Dispose of used parts in an environmentally friendly manner.
Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
- Adhere to company health, safety and environment regulations.
- Follow applicable speed limits during road testing.
- Keep all personal tools safe and secure.
- Report any tool breakages or accidents to the Team Leader or Supervisor immediately.
Professional Development
- Upgrade technical knowledge by completing web-based courses on a regular basis.
- Attend classroom training sessions as scheduled.
Customer Service
- Work additional hours as required by the Team Leader to complete jobs and ensure customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) certification: 2-year vocational course in automotive technology, with 5 to 7 years of experience as a technician; OR
- Diploma in Automotive Engineering with 3 to 4 years of experience as a technician.
- Valid driving license required.
- Level-2 JLR certification or Specialized Technician level Ford certification or equivalent.
- Additional technical skills are advantageous.
