Role Overview
Utility Engineer with Nova International General Contracting, a UAE-based general contracting and construction company specializing in branded residences. The position is based in Abu Dhabi.

Role Purpose
Supervise and coordinate utility construction activities, ensuring works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, programme, quality requirements, applicable codes, and Abu Dhabi authority standards and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Coordination
- Supervise subcontractors executing wet and dry utility works.
- Oversee installation of water, sewerage, stormwater, irrigation, electrical, telecommunications, and associated utility networks.
- Coordinate utility works with the Consultant, authorities, and other project disciplines.
- Provide technical support and guidance to site teams and subcontractors.
Documentation & Design Review
- Review approved drawings, method statements, ITPs, and construction requirements.
- Ability to review and interpret IFC drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, shop drawings, and authority-approved documents.
Progress & Resource Management
- Monitor subcontractor progress, manpower, materials, and resources.
- Ensure construction activities comply with applicable Abu Dhabi codes, regulations, standards, and authority requirements.
Quality & Compliance
- Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure NCRs and observations are closed.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, approvals, and authority requirements.
- Coordinate with relevant Abu Dhabi authorities and utility service providers for inspections, NOCs, approvals, connections, testing, and handover.
Interface Management
- Identify and resolve utility clashes and interface issues.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, as-built documentation, and handover.
- Strong understanding of utility coordination, interfaces, testing, commissioning, as-built documentation, and handover requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in infrastructure and utility construction supervision, preferably within major development or infrastructure projects.
- Strong practical experience in supervising wet and dry utility networks and associated infrastructure works.
- Good knowledge of applicable UAE and Abu Dhabi engineering codes, standards, specifications, and authority requirements.
- Familiarity with requirements and approval processes of relevant Abu Dhabi authorities and utility entities, including DMT/municipal requirements, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, DoE, ADDC/TAQA Distribution, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, Etisalat/e&, du, and other relevant authorities and service providers as applicable to the project.
- Experience working with Consultants, Contractors, Subcontractors, and Government/Utility Authorities.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong site supervision, coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
