Role Purpose

To plan, conduct, and analyze usability research that informs evidence-based design improvements. This role bridges human factors science and product development, ensuring user experience decisions are grounded in rigorous testing and cognitive principles.

Key Responsibilities

Usability Research & Testing

• Plan, conduct, and analyze formative and summative usability studies, including moderated and unmoderated tests.
• Perform heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs, and accessibility assessments.
• Define and measure usability key performance indicators (task success rate, error rate, time on task, etc.).
• Create and maintain usability testing protocols, documentation, and research repositories.

Collaboration & Advocacy

• Collaborate closely with designers, developers, and product managers to improve user experience based on findings.
• Advocate for evidence-based design decisions and usability best practices across teams.
• Support the development of design systems and product guidelines with usability input.
• Help train and mentor cross-functional teams on usability principles and tools.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in usability engineering, UX research, or a similar role.
• Strong foundation in usability principles and testing methodologies.
• Experience documenting research and presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of WCAG accessibility guidelines and inclusive design.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency with usability research tools: UserTesting, Lookback, Maze, Hotjar, or Optimal Workshop.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Axure, or Adobe XD.
• Strong statistical and analytical skills for interpreting test results.
• Deep knowledge in human factors, cognitive psychology, and behavioral UX.

Additional Information

• NN/g or HFI certifications are highly preferred.
