Trainee Approval Engineer (UAE Nationals Only)

Role Overview

Trainee Approval Engineer with DNV (Det Norske Veritas) in the UAE. This is a position for UAE Nationals only as part of the DNV Emirati Development Programme.

Role Purpose

Provide engineering support to project teams by assisting with technical analyses, documentation, and reporting activities while developing practical expertise in offshore structures and ship design. This role contributes to project delivery through the application of fundamental engineering principles, use of engineering software tools, and effective collaboration with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Analysis and Support

• Assist senior engineers in conducting technical analyses and preparing engineering calculations for offshore structures and marine systems.
• Apply fundamental engineering principles, including strength of materials, structural stability, hydrodynamics, and finite element analysis (FEA), to support design and assessment activities.
• Analyze structural performance, loading conditions, and operational requirements in offshore structure and vessel design studies.

Documentation and Reporting

• Support the development of engineering reports, design documentation, and technical deliverables in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Prepare technical presentations, data summaries, and project documentation using Microsoft Office applications, improving communication of engineering findings.
• Maintain organized project records and documentation, supporting efficient project tracking and knowledge management.

Tools and Analysis

• Utilize engineering software tools to perform modeling, analysis, and verification tasks for offshore and ship design projects.

Quality Assurance and Collaboration

• Assist in reviewing design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with project objectives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks and deliverables.

Qualifications & Experience

• UAE National with Family Book.
• Fresh graduate or early-career professional with 0–2 years of experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering disciplines such as Civil, Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Maritime, IT, Finance, or other related fields.
