Role Overview

Tradesman Civil at American Hospital Dubai. This role supports interior and exterior maintenance activities across a healthcare facility, including repair, alteration, and installation of doors, windows, cabinetry, and fixtures while maintaining compliance with safety, infection control, and healthcare facility standards.

Role Purpose

Perform skilled and semi-skilled carpentry and related trades work to maintain and enhance hospital facilities, execute work orders efficiently, and contribute to integrated Facilities Management operations that meet healthcare safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Carpentry & Structural Work

• Perform skilled and semi-skilled carpentry work involving repair, alteration, fabrication, and installation of wooden and related structures within hospital facilities.
• Carry out carpentry repairs and replacements for interior and exterior areas, including doors, windowsills, frames, cabinets, drawers, partitions, and fixtures.
• Estimate basic material and time requirements for assigned carpentry works and report requirements to the supervisor.

Masonry & Finishing

• Carry out masonry works, marble polishing, repairs, grouting, wall painting, and related finishing activities across hospital facilities.

Locksmith Support

• Support locksmith-related tasks, including installation, repair, and replacement of door locks and basic key control as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with hospital safety procedures, infection control requirements, and Facilities Management standards during all carpentry activities.

Work Order Execution

• Complete assigned work orders accurately and promptly in accordance with approved schedules.

Coordination & Collaboration

• Coordinate with other maintenance trades, including civil, electrical, and mechanical teams, to support integrated maintenance activities.
• Assist in moving furniture, fixtures, and equipment as required to facilitate carpentry works.

Maintenance & Housekeeping

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for improvement and suggest enhanced materials, methods, or techniques to improve workmanship and efficiency.
• Implement sustainable practices and environmentally responsible methods in Facilities Management operations where applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 10 School Certificate.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in civil maintenance works.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in a healthcare organization's maintenance department or similar institution.
• Knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, techniques, and finishing methods.
• Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance workflows.

Skills & Competencies

• Skills in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Skills in reading and interpreting basic engineering or maintenance drawings.
• Skills in basic computer applications for work orders and documentation.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary facilities team.
• Ability to maintain accuracy, attention to detail, and workmanship quality.
