Role Overview

TPE V / Principal Cathodic Protection Engineer at Wood PLC. This role manages cathodic protection system design and engineering delivery for oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, offshore, and mining projects.

Role Purpose

Lead cathodic protection design, engineering delivery, and project execution across FEED and detail design phases. Manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with client standards, and deliver quality CP system designs and documentation for complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Project Deliverables

• Contribute to the Project Execution Plan, Discipline Design Instruction, and Contract requisitions.
• Prepare project plans and multi-discipline documents including basis of design and subcontract scopes of work.
• Manage and coordinate engineering multidiscipline inputs and deliverables across multiple execution centers including workshare and high-value engineering centers.
• Prepare CP design drawings and documents as per Saudi Aramco, SABIC, and Maaden standards for pipelines, tanks, well casings, and in-plant underground metallic equipment.
• Prepare Statements of Work, TBE, TBC, Material Requisitions, and NMR documentation for CP bidding.
• Revise and check engineering deliverables against company procedures, standards, and checklists.

Cathodic Protection Design & Technical Delivery

• Direct cathodic protection system design for oil and gas, hydrocarbon refinery, offshore, mining, and petrochemical projects during FEED and detail design phases.
• Attend pre-design Kick-Off Meetings with client and present CP design approach for new projects.
• Lead offshore CP system design, existing CP assessment, and monitoring activities.
• Collect site data required for cathodic protection design of well casing, AC mitigation, and pipelines, including EM34/31 usage.
• Perform site measurements for CP design including potential data of existing structures, existing CP system parameters, and current measurement with flow direction.
• Supervise CP system installation, start-up, testing, and commissioning activities.

Quality, HSE and Assurance

• Understand and work to quality system; monitor and act on deficiencies.
• Check that Health, Safety, Environment, and Security issues are identified and addressed in design, manufacture, construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Develop Project Specific Procedures.
• Ensure that engineering disciplines comply strictly with contract and scope of work in completing project activities.
• Assure quality of engineering deliverables before issue to customer.
• Follow all safety requirements as per company policy.

Schedule Development and Management

• Plan individual work activities and manage time; liaise with disciplines to ensure timely receipt of comments.
• Input to work plan, set targets, and hold regular reviews.
• Expedite engineers to deliver to schedule; fully understand reasons for delay and drive development of recovery plans.
• Resolve most delays or changes; escalate only the most serious issues.

Change Management

• Highlight and quantify changes that impact work.
• Effect change when approved.

Stakeholder Management & Technical Leadership

• Chair technical meetings with third parties and manage particular technical issues through to completion.
• Coordinate with all disciplines as necessary in the preparation and development of deliverables; ensure other disciplines' inputs are incorporated.
• Prepare site visit agendas and checklists.

People Management

• Supervise work of technical professionals in the delivery of engineering deliverables, including checking work.
• Coordinate medium-sized interdisciplinary teams (typically 10–50 people).
• Communicate to facilitate work effort; motivate team; demonstrate strong, positive, and active approach to solutions with proactive attitude.
• Supervise engineering work being produced by junior staff.
• Conduct and provide training related to the role as required.
• Lead and handle projects independently; meet with client and prepare presentations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 10+ years of experience working on Saudi Aramco projects, both onshore and offshore, primarily in design consultancies or GES+ companies.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in CP design preparation for well casing, tanks, pipelines, and vessels; well familiar with Saudi Aramco, SABIC, and Maaden CP standards.
• Experience of offshore CP system design, existing CP assessment, and monitoring.
• Hands-on experience using all types of CP survey equipment in the field, including soil resistivity meters, current measurement, AC and DC potential data collection, and CP system operating parameter collection.

Skills & Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of AMPP standards.
• Basic knowledge of MicroStation operations.
• Proficient in English; strong oral and written communication.
• Basic knowledge of CP design preparation.
• Self-capable of leading and handling projects independently.
