Role Overview

THAAD Systems Engineer (Contractor Logistics Support), RTX, El Paso, Texas, United States. This is an onsite position based at 7201 Montana Ave, Building M2, supporting the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) UAE Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract as a U.S. expatriate assignment in the United Arab Emirates.

Role Purpose

Support Field Engineering operations for the THAAD AN/TPY-2 radar system in the UAE by troubleshooting and resolving radar system anomalies, assessing system health through advanced diagnostics, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and logistics reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose and troubleshoot radar system issues and lead resolution efforts under the direction of the CLS Site Manager.
• Investigate radar issues, including REX, BSG, Antenna/Sub-Array, and TRIMM anomalies using advanced engineering methodologies and software tools.
• Troubleshoot radar system anomalies using diagnostic interpretation and satellite track analysis.
• Maintain the overall health and operational status of radar systems.
• Assess radar system health and maintain corrective actions on faulted equipment.

Technical Support & Configuration

• Provide technical support for configuration management of hardware and software.
• Execute software installations, system updates, and engineering modifications.
• Maintain the Linux-based SDPE system.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret calibration data using radar systems and Matlab tools.

Reporting & Compliance

• Provide weekly engineering status reports.
• Review ALCS program data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Failure Review Board evaluation requirements.
• Write SARs and ensure compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and Automated Logistics Control System (ALCS) reporting requirements.
• Execute data archival procedures.
• Document integration and testing procedures, results, and issues.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Maintain effective communication with customers, end users, and Field Service Representatives (FSRs).
• Build professional networks and establish effective communication channels with stakeholders, customers, and team members.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• Eight to twelve years of related experience.
• Proven experience working in on-site integration and test teams.
• Hands-on experience operating radar systems to collect calibration data and troubleshoot radar anomalies.
• In-depth knowledge of radar theory, X-Band hardware and software concepts, and RF systems.
• Ability to read and utilize hardware schematics.
• Experience maintaining, assessing, and implementing corrective actions on faulted equipment.
• At least five years of experience troubleshooting and conducting operational checks of AN/TPY-2 systems (preferred).
• Experience in the planning, production, and management of complex systems (preferred).
• Background in logistics (highly desirable).

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in Linux or other UNIX-based OS platforms (Solaris, HP-UX).
• Proficiency in Matlab for data analysis (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with configuring and setting up network equipment (Cisco routers, switches).
• Strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
• Problem-solver willing to support work across functions (hardware, power, site-specific needs).
• Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated excellence in technical performance and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-sensitive requirements.

Additional Information

Security Clearance & Citizenship

• Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Active and existing security clearance required on day 1.
• DoD Clearance: Secret.
• CompTIA Security+ certification (Security+) is required.

Assignment Details

• Long-Term (Accompanied) International Assignment to the United Arab Emirates under the terms of an International Assignment Memorandum of Understanding (LTIA MOU).
• Accompanied assignment; travel into Host Nation for family members will be delayed with approval contingent on Global Mobility authorizing a safe move into country.
• This is a U.S.-based role; if the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $107,500 USD to $204,500 USD. Salary is based on role, function, associated responsibilities, work experience, location, education and training, and key skills.

Additional Terms

• Onsite role; employees work primarily onsite as essential to product development.
