Role Overview
Technologist II - Ultrasound at Sidra Medicine, a comprehensive diagnostic imaging department providing routine and advanced services for women and children across multiple campuses in Qatar.

The department collaborates with Weill Cornell Medical College - Qatar and coordinates medical services, research, and educational activities in a completely digital imaging environment. Services include General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Bone Mineral Densitometry, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional Radiography, Intraoperative MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT, all delivered according to best practice standards and clinical evidence methodologies in a patient-centered, highly collaborative setting.
Role Purpose
To perform routine and specialized ultrasound procedures independently while ensuring patient safety, maintaining equipment standards, and supporting departmental operations to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging services for patients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Operations
- Plan, prioritize, and organize ultrasound workload to ensure necessary patient care for patients of all ages.
- Perform routine and specialized ultrasound procedures independently and manage associated responsibilities as dictated by workload in the rostered area.
- Act independently in the assessment of ultrasound referrals, taking full responsibility to reduce unnecessary ionizing radiation exposure and utilizing skills to assess patient condition and determine appropriate diagnostic imaging methods.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels for consumables relative to the service.
Patient Care & Safety
- Ensure systems and standards that promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care in the ultrasound modality are adhered to as directed.
- Maintain accurate and concise records of all imaging received by the patient using appropriate systems.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Service Development & Support
- Provide modality expertise in reference to the ultrasound service and assist in the maintenance and development of the ultrasound service.
- Support the Supervisor - Ultrasound to manage and maintain a high level of expertise and reduce faults and issues effectively to guarantee safe operations of ultrasound equipment, ensure efficient flow, and optimize utilization of resources.
- Provide support and relief for department managers as required.
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to departmental and applicable organizational policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to the ultrasound patient care team.
- Adhere to and promote compliance with the hospital's radiation safety and protection and MRI safety policies and associated codes of practice, and take appropriate action where non-compliance is evident.
- Implement directed change to effect continual improvement in services provided and ensure compliance with all internal and external standards as well as regulatory and legal requirements.
On-Call & Scheduling
- Participate in standby and on-call roster systems for the Diagnostic Imaging service in imaging areas appropriate to training and qualifications, as designated by senior staff.
Training & Professional Development
- Participate in training and development of new employees in equipment and procedures in alignment with the department's and Sidra's training objectives and plans.
- Participate in and comply with quality improvement programs and competency assessment initiatives for Diagnostic Imaging services.
- Participate in mandatory training and actively practice continual professional development in alignment with Sidra's professional development programs to ensure maintenance of professional licensure and accreditation.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Imaging or equivalent.
- 5+ years relevant experience in an accredited healthcare or related environment.
