Technician Electrical

Role Overview

Technician Electrical at NMC Healthcare, maintaining electrical equipment and systems throughout the hospital facility.

Role Purpose

To operate, monitor, and maintain all electrical equipment and infrastructure in the hospital, ensuring safe and reliable power distribution and responding to electrical needs across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Monitoring

• Operate and monitor the functions of the generator and provide deficiency reports to the concerned in charge.
• Check the generator status and UPS status.
• Take transformer meter readings every day.
• Maintain a logbook.
• Inspect floor electrical rooms and distribution panels.

Maintenance & Repairs

• Make electrical modifications and renovations whenever necessary.
• Change fuse and cables when required.
• Rectify patient room electrical problems.
• Carry out electrical wiring works.
• Provide extra power sockets wherever required.

Coordination & Planning

• Coordinate with electrical inspection and other activities accurately.
• Discuss with Head of Department regarding works for the day.
• Actively participate in evolving long-term planning for improvement in the system.

Occupational Health & Safety

• Comply with all Occupational Safety and Health and infection control policies, standards, and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to meet those requirements.
• Work in accordance with documented Occupational Safety and Health procedures, instructions, and specific responsibilities.
• Maintain familiarity with emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Notify Occupational Safety and Health hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues and assist with preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.
• Comply with waste management procedures and policies.
• Attend applicable Occupational Safety and Health and infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
• Maintain building and facility in a safe manner.
• Prepare building management plans and budgets.
• Prepare for and participate in Emergency Management Program.
• Provide expert advice and information in building and facilities Occupational Safety and Health matters.
• Support development of objectives and monitor achievement of objectives and compliance with HAAD Health Sector Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems requirements across all departments.

General Duties

• Perform any related job or work when assigned by the superior.
• Carry out other duties when requested by the Head of Department.

Qualifications & Experience

• ITI or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent.
• At least 2 years' experience in the relevant field.

Skills & Competencies

• Effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates, and management.
• Ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
• Thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and respect for them.

Additional Information

• Work in all shifts as scheduled by the Head of Department.
• Strictly adhere to organization's regulations and policies, especially those related to infection control, patient safety, HAAD, JCI, and ISO.
• Support Continuous Quality Improvement and participate and contribute to all quality assurance activities of the service.
• Participate and contribute in scheduled in-service training programs.
• Maintain confidentiality as per the agreement signed.
