Technician

Role Overview

Technician position at Al Tayer Group in Dubai, UAE. The role involves repair, maintenance, and diagnosis of customer vehicles using approved manufacturer techniques.

Role Purpose

To deliver effective and efficient repair and maintenance services on customer vehicles in accordance with manufacturer repair techniques, ensuring accurate fault diagnosis and optimal utilization of allocated time.

Key Responsibilities

Repair and Maintenance

• Carry out effective and efficient repair and maintenance of customer vehicles following approved manufacturer repair techniques.
• Collect job orders and necessary materials, tools, and equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance on customer vehicles in accordance with manufacturer repair techniques.
• Ensure accurate fault diagnosis and effective utilization of time allocated for repairs.

Parts Management

• Ensure all additional repairs are authorized and parts are booked to the repair order.
• For warranty repairs or parts exchange programs, return removed parts to the parts department in the same carton to facilitate audit processes and obtain necessary credit if applicable.
• For retail jobs, keep old parts inside the vehicle except batteries and parts which may cause stains on interior trim or carpet.
• Return unused parts or store them properly as per company procedure.
• Dispose of used parts in an environmentally friendly manner.

Reporting and Communication

• Report to Team Leader of any delays in repairs due to unavailability of parts or any other reason.

Workplace Standards

• Service personal tools, keep lifts and work area clean, and comply with health and safety standards.
• Keep all personal tools safe; report any breakages or accidents to Team Leader, Supervisor, or Tool room immediately for replacement.
• Ensure proper clocking on/off in the system and complete write-ups in the repair order as per prescribed procedure.

Performance and Development

• Ensure efficiency and productivity is maintained above 100%.
• Upgrade knowledge by regularly completing web-based courses and attending classroom trainings.
• Work extra hours when the job needs to be completed to ensure customer satisfaction as per Team Leader's requirement.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Automotive Engineering or Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) certification from a 2-year vocational course as Certified Auto Technician.
• Should have attended basic technical courses from Vehicle Manufacturing companies.
• 2 to 3 years experience as technician for Diploma holders.
• 3 to 5 years experience as technician for ITI holders.

Skills & Competencies

• Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) certified Auto Technician Course.
• Vocational Automobile Training Course.
• Diploma in Automotive Engineering.
• Basic electrical knowledge in addition to mechanical skills.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Additional technical skills, if any, are an additional advantage.
