Technician

Role Overview

Technician at Al Tayer Group in Dubai, UAE. This role involves repair and maintenance of customer vehicles using approved manufacturer techniques.

Role Purpose

To carry out effective and efficient repair and maintenance of customer vehicles following approved manufacturer repair techniques, ensuring accurate fault diagnosis, proper resource utilization, and compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Repair and Maintenance

• Carry out effective and efficient repair and maintenance of customer vehicles following approved manufacturer repair techniques.
• Collect job orders and necessary materials, tools, and equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance on customer vehicles in accordance with manufacturer repair techniques.
• Ensure accurate fault diagnosis and effective utilization of time allocated for repairs.
• Ensure all additional repairs are authorized and parts are booked to the repair order.

Warranty and Parts Management

• For warranty repairs and parts exchange programs: return removed parts to the parts department in the same carton to facilitate audit processes and obtaining necessary credit if applicable.
• For retail jobs: keep old parts inside the vehicle except batteries and parts which may cause stains on the interior trim or carpet of the vehicle.
• Return unused parts or store them properly as per company procedure.
• Dispose of used parts in an environment-friendly manner.

Reporting and Communication

• Report to Team Leader of any delays in repairs due to unavailability of parts or any other reason.
• Report any breakages or accidents to Team Leader, Supervisor, or Tool room immediately for replacement.

Workplace Standards and Safety

• Service personal tools, keep lifts and work area clean, and comply with health and safety standards.
• Keep all personal tools safe.
• Ensure proper clocking on/off in the system and complete write-up in the repair order as per prescribed procedure.

Performance and Development

• Ensure efficiency and productivity is maintained above 100%.
• Work extra hours when required to ensure job completion and customer satisfaction as per Team Leader's requirement.
• Upgrade knowledge by regularly completing web-based courses and attending classroom trainings.

Qualifications & Experience

Education and Certification

• Diploma in Automotive Engineering.
• Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) — 2 years vocational course, Certified Auto Technician Course.
• Vocational Automobile Training Course.
• Basic technical courses from Vehicle Manufacturing companies.

Experience

• 2 to 3 years experience as technician for Diploma holders.
• 3 to 5 years experience as technician for ITI holders.

Skills & Competencies

• Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) certified Auto Technician Course.
• Diploma in Automotive Engineering.
• Basic electrical knowledge in addition to mechanical skills.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Additional technical skills (if any) are an additional advantage.
