Role Overview
Technical & Performance Engineer at ACWA Power in a remote location. The role ensures maximum plant performance, efficiency and effectiveness by coordinating all plant operations activities.
Role Purpose
To ensure that the plant runs with maximum performance, efficiently and effectively by coordinating all plant operations activities.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Performance Management
- Monitor daily performance of all plants and ensure that all parameters are within specified limits.
- Carry out troubleshooting in coordination with Operation staff in power and desalination.
- Coordinate with Shift Charge Engineer and Chief Chemist to improve efficiency through operational activity changes with Operations Manager approval.
- Prepare monthly performance summaries of plants.
- Ensure effective resource utilization.
Plant Maintenance & Inspections
- Recommend and follow up acid cleaning of Desalination Plant as required.
- Recommend and follow up distillate stage sampling and interpret results if tube leak is suspected.
- Carry out detailed inspection of plant during annual maintenance and follow up annual maintenance activities.
Policies, Procedures & Compliance
- Ensure implementation of effective and efficient policies and procedures relating to all Power and Desalination Plants.
- Ensure Legal compliance with respect to their scope of activities.
- Ensure responsibility to comply with legal requirements, contractual and organizational requirements.
Environmental, Health & Safety Management
- Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact and Hazard Risk Assessments are carried out, controlled and updated.
- Identification, documentation and control of hazards in assigned work area.
- Ensure aspects identified are monitored and operational controls are followed.
- Knowledge of spillage containment.
- Knowledge of managing HSE emergencies.
- Knowledge of identification, classification and disposal of waste.
- Reporting of emergencies, incidents and near misses.
Integrated Management System
- Implement, monitor and report IMS objectives, targets and programs.
- Provide necessary resources for effective implementation and sustenance of IMS.
- Report IMS performance to management periodically.
- Report deviations in Integrated Management System, identify root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Non-Conformances & Corrective Actions
- Ensure identification of root cause for identified non-conformances and deviations.
- Implement corrective actions and preventive actions.
Personnel Management & Development
- Identify competency gap for subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions.
- Carry out annual performance evaluation of reporting employees.
- Provide on-the-job training to new employees and evaluate their OJT performance.
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering or Post Graduate in Engineering with power plant engineering.
- 4–8 years in Power, Desalination, or RO plant experience in Middle East.
Skills & Competencies
- Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management System principles.
- Knowledge of applicable legal requirements.
- Hazard Risk assessment.
- Aspect Impact assessment.
- Investigating skills.
- Knowledge of spillage containment.
- Knowledge of managing HSE emergencies.
- Knowledge of identification, classification and disposal of waste.
- Knowledge of Emission Monitoring.
- Well conversed with Power, Desalination, and RO operational activities and efficiency calculations.
- Analytical.
- Problem solving.
Additional Information
- Work location: Remote location.
- Preferred certifications: SAP working knowledge, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness or working knowledge.
