Role Overview
Technical Director – Data Centres & Mission Critical (Electrical) with WSP Middle East. This is a leadership position based in the Middle East, supporting the growth of data centre and mission critical infrastructure across the UAE and KSA.

WSP Middle East is part of WSP, a global professional services firm. The organization operates a Building Services team serving the data centres and mission critical sectors across the Middle East region.
Role Purpose
Lead the electrical design and technical strategy of complex data centre and mission critical projects across the Middle East. Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams, champion design excellence, advise clients on infrastructure strategies, and drive the growth and capability of WSP's Data Centres & Mission Critical practice.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership
- Lead the electrical design of hyperscale, colocation, and mission critical facilities.
- Drive design quality, innovation, and technical excellence throughout project delivery.
Technical Direction
- Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary Building Services design teams.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on mission critical infrastructure strategies.
Business Development & Growth
- Support business development, client engagement, and major project pursuits.
- Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of WSP's Data Centres & Mission Critical practice.
- Build and maintain a strong track record of developing client relationships and winning work.
Team Development
- Mentor and develop engineers across the Building Services team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 18+ years' experience in Building Services Engineering.
- Significant experience leading the design and delivery of Data Centre and Mission Critical projects.
- Extensive Middle East experience with a strong understanding of regional client requirements, authority approvals, and project delivery frameworks.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams within a consultancy environment.
- Experience delivering projects for hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and mission critical clients.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional accreditation.
Skills & Competencies
- Deep technical expertise in mission critical electrical systems, including HV/LV distribution, UPS systems, standby generation, resilience strategies, and critical power infrastructure.
- Strong client relationship development capability.
- Business acumen for supporting growth and project pursuits.
