Tech Maintenance Assistant

Role Overview

Tech Maintenance Assistant at Johnson Controls, based in Qatar, reporting directly to the Field Line Manager as part of the HVAC Aftermarket team.

Role Purpose

Support the technical team in the installation, service, repair, and preventative maintenance of refrigeration systems and equipment, including reciprocating and screw compressors, condensing units, evaporators, valves, and control systems.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair Operations

• Focus on maintenance and repair within set timeframes and according to defined processes, service agreements, and customer needs.
• Complete planned site and customer visits and resolve customer requests and calls as dispatched.
• Under close supervision, maintain and repair system malfunctions requiring specific technical knowledge and relevant qualifications, with understanding of time and material requirements.
• Seek clarification and technical support where needed and escalate issues as appropriate.
• Maintain and improve technical proficiency in Johnson Controls product lines.

Technical Knowledge

• Understand and analyze relevant technical documents including electrical schemes, fluid schemes, piping diagrams, and psychometric diagrams.
• Gain and demonstrate overall system understanding and basic product knowledge.

Customer Relationship Management

• Develop positive customer relationships and ensure proactive feedback on equipment and systems status.
• Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving work sites.
• Meet regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems and reach full understanding of customer needs.
• Keep customers informed on the nature of service provided and outstanding issues.
• Recommend system enhancements, upgrades, or replacements and promote the sale of change orders and additional labor and material work.
• Advise and train customers in system operations.

Documentation and Compliance

• Document work completed in a clear and concise way and promptly submit service reports.
• Ensure compliance with the Johnson Controls safety culture and adhere to all applicable safety standards, requirements, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and industry regulations where required.
• Support all Business Area Key Accountabilities for field operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant qualifications in the specific trade (HVAC, Refrigeration).
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a relevant field.
• Fluent language skills in English.
