Role Overview

Role Purpose

To assist in the day-to-day running of the PE department, taking responsibility for administration tasks, displays, and supporting lessons. The role involves monitoring and maintaining PE equipment and storage, supporting PE staff in creating lesson resources, and contributing to the school's extensive squad provision. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for sport and alignment with the school's core values and appreciation of the regional culture.

Key Responsibilities

Department Operations & Administration

• Maintain PE equipment and stock to ensure it is fit for purpose.
• Prepare resources and equipment for lessons under direction of the class teacher.
• Perform basic administration duties for the PE department.
• Maintain the PE department booking sheet.
• Maintain the learning environment in PE.
• Communicate with external agencies regarding fixtures and sports events.

Teaching & Learning Support

• Support the teaching and learning of the PE department.
• Support PE staff in the creation of lesson resources.
• Liaise with leadership in PE to ensure support is matched to need.
• Contribute to school squad provision.

Whole-School Responsibilities

• Assist the school in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and contribute to the achievement of relevant targets as set out in the school's improvement plan and self-evaluation form.
• Comply with regulations pertaining to health and safety at work legislation and adhere to school policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulations.
• Comply with the school's Performance Management Policy, ensuring challenging annual targets are set, and fulfill the role of performance management reviewer if directed by the Principal.
• Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding, and health and safety, together with all training deemed appropriate for school improvement or performance management.
• Comply with the school's staff dress code at all times, including the wearing of photo ID and lanyard.
• Comply with the school's computer Acceptable Use Policy at all times.
• Attend all staff briefings.
• Sign out and sign in at relevant school reception if off site at any point during the normal working day.
• Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be determined by the leadership for PE, commensurate with pay and conditions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a related subject with PGCE or other teacher qualification.
• Minimum 1–2 years teaching experience.
