Role Overview

Teacher of Physical Education at Al Ain British Academy, Abu Dhabi, commencing January 2027. Due to operational requirements, this position is open to female candidates only.

Role Purpose

To assist in the day-to-day running of the Physical Education department by providing administrative support, managing equipment and storage, supporting PE staff in creating lesson resources, and contributing to the school's squad provision while demonstrating leadership and collaborative working within the PE team.

Key Responsibilities

School-Wide Duties

• Assist the school in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and contribute to the achievement of relevant targets in the school's improvement plan and self-evaluation form.
• Comply with health and safety at work legislation and adhere to school policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulations.
• Comply with the school's Performance Management Policy and fulfill the role of performance management reviewer if directed by the Principal.
• Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, and training deemed appropriate for school improvement or performance management.
• Comply with the school's staff dress code at all times, including wearing of photo ID and lanyard.
• Comply with the school's computer Acceptable Use Policy at all times.
• Attend all staff briefings.
• Sign out and sign in at relevant school reception if off site at any point during the normal working day.

PE Department Duties

• Maintain PE equipment and stock to ensure it is fit for purpose.
• Prepare resources and equipment for lessons under direction of the class teacher.
• Support the teaching and learning of the PE department.
• Perform basic administration duties for the PE department.
• Communicate with external agencies regarding fixtures and sports events.
• Maintain the PE department booking sheet.
• Liaise with leadership in PE to ensure support is matched to need.
• Maintain the learning environment in PE.
• Contribute to school squad provision.
• Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be determined by PE leadership, commensurate with pay and conditions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 1–2 years' experience as a Physical Education teacher in the English National Curriculum.
• Secure knowledge of teaching the English National Curriculum and GCSE.
• Experience of teaching A-level is an advantage.
• Experience of working in more than one International School.
