Role Purpose

Deliver inspiring Physical Education lessons that help students achieve the best possible outcomes, while creating an engaging and positive learning environment that reflects the school's core values and demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of regional values.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum

• Deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed and achieve the best possible outcomes
• Demonstrate clear understanding of the curriculum
• Plan, prepare and present sessions that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class
• Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative teaching

Learning Environment & Resources

• Organise the classroom provision and learning resources
• Create displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment
• Reflect on classroom provision, sessions taught, and progress made
• Adjust environment, planning and curriculum to reflect reflective practice

Assessment & Progress

• Observe and assess children in line with school assessments
• Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of student development using Target Tracker
• Use data provided by assessments to influence further planning, provision and intervention

Pupil Management & Behaviour

• Maintain good relationships with pupils
• Exercise appropriate authority and act decisively when necessary within the school's behavioural policy
• Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour expected of pupils

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in the related subject with PGCE or other teacher qualification
• Minimum 1-2 years teaching experience
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language

• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities
• Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background
• A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life
