Role Purpose

To deliver outstanding English language instruction to EAL students across the age and ability range, aligned with the UK National Curriculum and the school's Teaching and Learning Policy, while supporting students' academic progress and pastoral development.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Curriculum

• Create a climate for learning that is conducive for outstanding practice.
• Identify clear teaching and learning objectives.
• Set clear targets building on prior attainment.
• Provide clear structure and planning for lessons and learning activities that maintain pace, challenge and engagement.
• Take part in subject development by producing, reviewing and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work.

Differentiation and Support

• Identify SEN (POD), EAL and G&T students and ensure that their needs are met through differentiation.
• Make effective use of assessment for learning.

Data and Planning

• Make effective use of performance data and key indicators to inform planning and therefore deliver differentiated lessons.
• Make effective use of ICT to enhance learning and progress.
• Assess and record students' progress systematically and keep records using performance data to inform planning, student learning and progress.

Assessment and Feedback

• Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching and learning.
• Mark students' work regularly and set targets for progress in accordance with the school's Marking Policy.
• Undertake assessment of students as requested by examination bodies, department and school procedures.
• Prepare and present informative reports to parents.

Behaviour and Standards

• Maintain discipline in accordance with the school's Behaviour for Learning Policy and encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Attend and support parent and student events.
• Meet with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists if required.

Additional Duties

• Perform any other duties as assigned by the SLT.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor degree in Education, or Bachelor degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Teaching experience in English National Curriculum.
• Experience of teaching across the age and ability range with proven success.
• Experience of working in more than one International School desirable.

• Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).
• Genuine understanding and appreciation of the values of the region.
