Role Purpose

Ensure compliance with sustainability certification programs and client requirements across construction projects by reviewing technical documentation, coordinating with contractors, conducting audits, and driving sustainability performance while supporting certification processes such as LEED, Estidama, and other green rating systems.

Key Responsibilities

Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Effectively communicate the sustainability certification program, Client's sustainability requirements, and progress to project teams.
• Liaise with the contractor's Sustainability Manager/Engineer for day-to-day sustainability issues.
• Conduct and coordinate dedicated site sustainability meetings in conjunction with relevant team members and prepare minutes of meetings.
• Support the company in potential business growth by promoting Atkins services and networking with new potential clients and contacts.

Documentation & Compliance Review

• Review necessary design drawings, materials requirements, specifications, and contractual sustainability documents of the project.
• Prepare the necessary documentation required to maintain the sustainability KPIs.
• Review and comment on subcontractor pre-qualifications and specialist credentials.
• Review Sustainability plans, procedures, reporting and monitoring trackers, energy simulations and relevant reports submitted by contractor to confirm Contractor's understanding of sustainability specifications and KPIs.
• Review technical material submittals, shop drawings, calculations and reports submitted by the Contractor ensuring compliance to Sustainability requirements.
• Review and comment on alternate sustainability proposals submitted by contractors.
• Review Contractor's Monthly sustainability progress reports.

Audits & Inspections

• Conduct regular site visits and Sustainability inspections and audits on contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Schedule and conduct timely audits mandated by regulatory bodies and prepare audit reports for authority's review and approval.
• Ensure the contractor is performing sustainability inspections, sampling, and testing of materials in accordance with specified standards, guidelines and requirements.
• Inspect on-site and off-site materials to be used in the project, organize and witness field and laboratory tests conducted by third parties on construction materials to ascertain compliance with specifications.

Quality Assurance & Non-Conformance Management

• Adhere to QA/QC system implemented on site and ensure compliance with Quality manual.
• Provide oversight to the Contractor's CEMP and undertake site audits, reporting non-compliance incidents (NCI).
• Raise non-conformance notices (NCNs)/reports and site inspection notices (SINs) identifying deficiencies in conjunction with the Resident Engineer.
• Review corrective and preventative actions proposed by the contractor, respond, follow up, and close out procedures.

Reporting & Technical Delivery

• Report sustainability and environmental performance to clients.
• Liaise with and review green rating system submissions with authorities and prepare all required documentation.
• Preparation of Monthly reports in coordination with all disciplines.
• Develop technical and non-technical reports as per scopes of assigned projects and ensure high quality of deliverables.

Coordination & Support

• Coordinate with and support contractors including MEP/Civil engineers.
• Coaching of junior staff and support sustainability training and awareness across all disciplines.
• Conduct product and technology research related to sustainability.

Qualifications & Experience

• 15+ years' experience in sustainability engineering or related field.
• B.Eng/B.Tech Degree in a relevant field.
• ESTIDAMA PQP (PBRS & PCRS) certification mandatory.
• LEED AP certification mandatory.
• WELL AP certification either obtained or in process, highly desirable.
• Previous proven experience delivering Construction stage of projects within Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
• Full and in-depth knowledge of LEED, Estidama, and Al Sa'fat certification processes and required documentation.
• Demonstrated experience working on projects and being responsible for obtaining Estidama and LEED Certification at multiple levels.
• Specific knowledge of other green building certification programs such as MOSTADAM, GSAS, and CEEQUAL.
• Awareness of WELL Certification in terms of requirements, processes and submission.
