Role Overview
Structural Engineer - Steel (Pedestrian bridge) with Egis Group at Waagner Biro Bridge Services in Dubai or the UAE.

Role Purpose
Design, assess, supervise, and coordinate the construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and strengthening of steel pedestrian bridge structures, ensuring structural integrity, regulatory compliance, and safe execution from design review through site completion.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Structural Review
- Review structural drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and method statements.
- Conduct structural inspections and condition assessments of existing pedestrian bridges.
- Identify structural defects and recommend suitable repair, strengthening, or replacement solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, progress reports, and structural assessment recommendations.
Fabrication and Quality Coordination
- Monitor steel fabrication, welding, bolting, painting, galvanizing, and corrosion protection works.
- Review material submittals, inspection requests, quality documentation, and technical reports.
- Coordinate with planning, QA/QC, HSE, and construction teams to achieve project objectives.
Site Execution and Supervision
- Lead and supervise the construction, maintenance, refurbishment, and rehabilitation of steel pedestrian bridges.
- Supervise site erection activities, lifting operations, and installation of steel bridge components.
- Ensure all works are executed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
Stakeholder and Regulatory Coordination
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, contractors, fabricators, and authorities to ensure project compliance.
- Ensure compliance with Dubai Municipality, RTA, project specifications, and international bridge standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in steel bridge construction, maintenance, or rehabilitation projects.
- Proven experience working on Steel Pedestrian Bridges, Footbridges, or Foot Over Bridges (FOB) within the UAE.
- Experience in structural inspections, condition assessments, and repair methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection, welding, bolting, and bridge maintenance techniques.
- Strong understanding of bridge construction methodologies and temporary works requirements.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in structural analysis and engineering software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with international codes and standards such as AASHTO, BS, Eurocodes, and relevant UAE regulations.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Additional Information
- UAE driving license is preferred.
- Candidates with experience in Steel Truss Footbridges, Pedestrian Overpasses, Foot Over Bridges (FOB), Steel Arch Footbridges, Cable-Stayed Pedestrian Bridges, Bridge Rehabilitation & Strengthening, Structural Steel Fabrication & Erection, or RTA Dubai Bridge Projects will be highly preferred.
