Role Purpose

To accurately and efficiently process customer transactions while delivering excellent customer service, maintaining cash and till security, and upholding store discipline and service standards at the point of sale.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Processing

• Accurately process cash, credit card, and gift voucher transactions in an efficient manner.
• Recheck credit card transactions to ensure accuracy.
• Process transactions for customers in a timely manner.

Cash Handling & Security

• Count the float for the designated till prior to opening to ensure accurate accounting.
• Ensure proper rates and denominations of currencies at all times.
• Conduct security checks for currency, credit cards, cheques, and other valuables when required.
• Ensure the safe passage of all cash from the designated till to the safe.
• Take full responsibility for the security of the designated till and all cash and valuables within it.
• Reimburse the company of any shortages in money at the end of the day on the designated till as per company policy.
• Ensure counting of cash after the last customer leaves the showroom.

Till & Equipment Operations

• Ensure that the designated till is fully operational and in working order.
• Check whether cash machines are working properly.
• Ensure that all POS machines are in excellent condition.
• Follow the close-down procedures for the designated till at the end of trading.
• Count the float for the designated till prior to opening.

Stock & Station Preparation

• Ensure that all stationery and carrier bags are present at the station prior to opening.
• Remove security tags from garments and items purchased by customers.
• Fold garments in the correct way and present them in the correct size carrier bag to the customer after payment.

Customer Service

• Provide excellent customer service to all customers at all times.
• Greet all customers with a friendly smile and welcome as they approach the till.
• Act in a friendly and polite manner at all times.
• Greet and inform customers about Landmark Privilege Card (LPC), Gift Vouchers, extended warranty, and various promotions.
• Advise customers of the availability of gift vouchers and other concept promotions at applicable times.

Store Standards & Discipline

• Maintain in-store discipline and service standards.
• Ensure housekeeping standards within the cashier's counter as per the company's standards.
• Ensure highest customer service, safety, security, and discipline inside the point of sale.
• Be aware of queue buildup at the till point and inform the Chief Cashier of the same.

Price & System Management

• Ensure that prices are updated regularly in the system.
• Inform Management of price queries.

Problem-Solving & Accountability

• Show initiative in dealing with problems.
• Be honest and trustworthy and demonstrate the same at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 1–3 years of work experience in retail in a cashiering role with cash handling responsibilities.

Additional Information

• Previous cashier experience at Centrepoint, Home Centre, or Max is preferred.
