Steel Structure Supervisor at Samsung E&A. This is a supervisory role based on-site, overseeing the fabrication and erection of steel structures for industrial plant construction projects.

Role Purpose

Supervise and manage subcontractors to execute steel structure fabrication and erection work safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with project specifications, engineering standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Management

• Supervise fabrication and erection of steel structures.
• Supervise and ensure safe conditions at the construction site in cooperation with the safety department.
• Supervise and ensure construction quality in accordance with project specifications and ITP (Inspection and Test Plan).
• Manage and support subcontractors to proceed with construction effectively and under safe conditions.
• Evaluate the construction sub-contractors' work capability according to the programs that must be implemented.

Site Inspection & Materials Control

• Conduct site inspection and issue materials requests to segregate staking for erection.
• Ensure necessary construction drawings and materials are available in advance of construction implementation.
• Perform MTO (Material Take-Off) and update progressively to ensure proper control of material procurement and usage.
• Compare actual quantities against engineering quantities.
• Check and compare coordinates of anchor bolts on civil foundations in advance.

Coordination & Scheduling

• Coordinate and control erection activities to complete work as per schedule.
• Coordinate with contractor activities to ensure orderly and efficient completion of work.
• Coordinate with clients' representatives and other department supervisors for effective coordination of all works.
• Coordinate with other disciplines or departments to resolve interface issues.
• Manage construction progress by checking daily, weekly and monthly work done quantities.

Safety & Compliance

• Practice and ensure all project staff are informed of Health and Safety related hazards and project-specific requirements.
• Ensure Safety, Health and Environmental operating procedures are followed.
• Coordinate work permits.
• Prepare and obtain work permits, conduct daily toolbox meetings and conduct job safety analysis.
• Involve in refinery shutdown activities.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

• Review method statements and risk assessments submitted by the contractor.
• Monitor and witness all construction and field activities and project progress.
• Inspect work packages and recommend sign-off to all construction departments.
• Study and evaluate work sequences and methods.
• Prepare construction M/S (Method Statement) based on specification and requirements.
• Record B/P (Best Practice) and L/L (Lessons Learned).
• Report and resolve fabrication and drawing errors found at site.

Reporting & Records

• Maintain and control site technical work instructions and records.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly construction reports.
• Prepare red line markups to Engineering for AS-BUILT submission to clients.

Qualifications & Experience

• Construction experience in an oil/gas/petrochemical or power plants as supervisor.
• Engineering and Construction Company working experience in the Middle East is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Comprehensive knowledge of construction management and engineering standards.
• Shop Fabrication expertise.
• Computer application ability (MS Office).
